CLAAS KGaA mbH, a manufacturer of agricultural machinery, nominated
DB Schenker as logistics service provider for transports to CIS countries in
2012. This nomination comprises a volume of 1,000 agricultural machineries
in wagon groups or block trains from West and East European plants to
various CIS Staates by rail. The specific challenge of these transports is the
route of 5,000 kilometres across several national borders, the coordination
of all involved railways and partners, the associated different freight laws
and the transshipment from European normal gauge to Russian broad gauge.
