Longtime friend and fellow trustee, Eugene Alford said, “When I think of John and his years of service to WFEC, three things come to mind: honesty, reliability and compassion. John is honest in his work ethic and you could always count on him to make the right decisions concerning board issues,” he continued. Alford believes that one of Worthington’s greatest qualities is his compassion for others. He demonstrated this caring nature during his many years on the board by always having the best interests of the cooperative’s members at the forefront of any decisions he made. 6130101 “It has been my pleasure to know John Worthington for over twenty years and I have truly enjoyed serving on the West Florida Electric Board of Trustees with him,” said Alford. WFEC President & CEO, William S. Rimes, recalls the first time he met Worthington. “During my interview for the job, as I looked at him, I thought of the song, “Big John” and the lyrics: ‘he stood six-foot-six and weighed 245, kind of broad at the shoulders, narrow at the hip, and everybody knew you didn’t give no lip to Big John.’ During the past thirteen years I have gotten to know him very well and have learned that John is an extraordinary leader…a man of total integrity,” he said. Rimes believes that Worthington is a man of the utmost character whose abilities and visionary nature helped facilitate a complete revolution in technology that took the cooperative from self-read meters to meter readers SEND US YOUR RECIPES and all the way through the Automated Meter Reading (AMR) program. Under his leadership as Chairman of the Board of Trustees, the cooperative saw remarkable improvements in technology, productivity, efficiency and most notably, accountability. During Worthington’s tenure on the board, the cooperative grew from 10,000 members and a total utility plant valued at more than $40 million to its current 21,000 members and a plant value of over $100 million. “On the occasion of his retirement from the WFEC Board of Trustees, the board members, the management team and employees wish to join his many friends in expressing our heartfelt gratitude for his long and distinguished service to our cooperative. According to Mr. Worthington, nothing has pleased him more for the past 30 years than to watch this company grow into one of the strongest and most progressive cooperatives in the country,” said Rimes. “We feel he deserves much of the credit and should take pride in his many significant contributions to the achievements of WFEC. The capability of this cooperative to meet the needs of its expanding membership is directly attributed to the efforts of loyal and dedicated board members like Mr. John Worthington. We, along with the membership will greatly miss him,” he said. 8199301 Plans for a retirement celebration in Worthington’s honor are underway and will be held at a later date. While this celebration closes a chapter in the history of the cooperative, it begins a new chapter as the torch is passed. Streamline Your Bill Paying Process Now that summer’s here who wants to waste time writing out checks to pay bills? Well now you don’t have to waste glorious days doing boring tasks like that. West Florida Electric Cooperative (WFEC) offers several ways to make paying your bills quicker and more convenient. 6203601 You have access to your energy account anytime, anywhere via the Internet. You can view your bill or pay it online by using your debit card,Visa or MasterCard. You can make payments with confidence, knowing that your transaction is secure. To pay online, simply log on to www.westflorida.coop and access your account. You will need your account number and a username and password to login to your account. If you do not have a password and would like to begin paying your bill online, just contact a Member Services Representative in any one of our three district offices to get started today. You will be given a computer-generated password to use the first time you log in, but once you’ve logged into your account, you can personalize and edit your information. Automatic bank drafts or credit card drafts are some other convenient options to try. The amount of your electric bill can be drafted (automatically transferred) from your checking account or credit card on a specified day each month. A copy of your bill is sent to your home. When selecting this payment option, you need to provide WFEC with a deposit slip for the bank account from which the funds will be transferred. There is no service charge for this service. This option takes all the worry out of paying your bill. Utilizing our e-checking payment option is another convenient way to pay your bill. This option is available to all members who have a good payment history. There is an eight dollar service charge for this service. E-checks can be taken over the phone or online. 6083602 If you can’t make it into the office, WFEC also offers remote payment locations throughout our service area. Payments made on or before your bill’s due date can be made at Regions Bank in Chipley, Blountstown or Marianna; Superior Bank in Altha, Blountstown or Marianna; or People’s South Bank in Marianna, Greenwood, Malone, Chipley, Bonifay or Sneads. Night drop depositories are also available at each of WFEC’s district offices for members who can’t make it by the offices during normal business hours. WFEC accepts all major credit cards.
