2. Migrants com<strong>in</strong>g from countries such as Sudan (540), Iran (524), Pakistan (7’003)<br />

and Egypt (378) fall under <strong>the</strong> category of domestics but may be perform<strong>in</strong>g o<strong>the</strong>r<br />

jobs or are migrat<strong>in</strong>g to look for suitable job prospects.<br />

3. It seems possible that a large number of <strong>migrant</strong>s from Pakistan are mostly male<br />

gardeners.<br />

4. The Sudanese and Bangladeshis listed as domestic workers may <strong>in</strong>clude children<br />

hired for camel rac<strong>in</strong>g (a sector where traffick<strong>in</strong>g of children seems to be highly<br />

practiced) 12 .<br />

5. Iranians and Egyptians are good examples of <strong>migrant</strong>s who come look<strong>in</strong>g for better<br />

opportunities. A very m<strong>in</strong>imal number of Egyptian <strong>women</strong> reportedly work <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>United</strong> <strong>Arab</strong> <strong>Emirates</strong> as domestic workers.<br />
