UN GLOBAL COMPACT
The United Nations Global Compact is the largest
corporate responsibility initiative in the world
– with 7,000 signatories based in more than
135 countries, and Local Networks existing or
emerging in 90 countries. The UN Global Compact
asks companies to embrace, support and enact a
set of Ten Principles in the areas of human rights,
labour standards, the environment and anticorruption.
UN GLOBAL COMPACT LEAD
Participants of Global Compact LEAD are
characterised by a commitment to implement the
Blueprint for Corporate Sustainability Leadership
and a willingness to lead the Global Compact
with strong engagement at the local and global
levels. Equally important, LEAD companies have
a commitment to share their learnings and
outcomes with the broader universe of UN Global
Compact participants.
UN GLOBAL COMPACT LEAD GROUP
Maersk Supply Service is a member of the UN
Global Compact LEAD Group, which A.P. Moller -
Maersk joined in 2010 to achieve higher levels of
sustainability. We have implemented the Group
programme Maersk Global Labour Principles
which reflects our commitment to the UN
Global Compact, covering collective bargaining,
discrimination, child labour and forced labour, as
well as health, safety and security, working hours,
compensation and fair procedures.
THE SUSTAINABILITY COUNCIL
The Sustainability Council is part of strengthening
corporate and high-level governance. The
Sustainability Council’s main function is to oversee
compliance to group standards and policies as
well as make recommendations on new groupwide
sustainability strategies and policies.
