California at Berkeley. She did postdoctoral work with the USDA Human Nutrition Research
Center in Beltsville, MD and also worked for Nestle Research, Switzerland. Initially Dr.
Swanson conducted human metabolic studies of zinc and selenium. More recently, she
conducted research in the Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics at the NCI. Her
epidemiologic research focused on studies of the relation of alcohol, body size and cancer risk.
