c) The force provided at the throw bar shall be a minimum of 3.1kN at nominal
supply voltage with maximum thrust of not less than 4.4kN occurring at clutch
slip.
d) The machine shall be capable of being stopped in mid stroke by external
resistance without sustaining damage.
e) The machine shall be capable of completing three consecutive full stokes at a
load of 3.1kN at a temperature of 60°C.
f) For a rail head locking open blade, there should be 127mm clearance (±2mm)
between point blade and stock rail measured at the toe of the points.
g) Machine locking shall provide for a switch opening of 125mm clearance
(±3mm) at the tip of the switch.
4.4.4 Operating Time
a) With a load of 3.1kN maximum and nominal supply voltage the throw time
shall not exceed 7 seconds.
4.4.5 Environmental Conditions
a) The point machine shall be subject to the conditions specified for Category C
equipment in specification VRIOGS 012.7.25 “Environmental Conditions”.
4.4.6 Lightning and Surge Protection
a) The application of the point machine shall comply to VRIOG Standard
“Lightning and Surge Protection - General Requirements” VRIOGS 012.7.9.
