WATERLEAU has developed many proprietary technologies for the
production of green energy from:
WATER: More than 300 anaerobic waste water treatment plants produce
green energy from industrial wastewater. WATERLEAU is the indisputable
market leader in anaerobic waste water treatment in the beverage industry,
with more than 100 references in this industry alone. Many more sustainable
references in the bakery, sugar, dairy, agro- and potato processing industry.
SLUDGE: Green energy from the methanization of sludge, by-product of
waste water treatment, is providing up to 50% of the energy needs in large
municipal waste water treatment plants in Marrakech and Fez (Morocco).
Sludge drying in horizontal and vertical sludge dryers, designed and built
by WATERLEAU, are turning wet sludge into dried pellets, used either as
fertilizer or as fuel, in Poznan (Poland), Makkah (2x) and Madinah (2x) (Saudi
Arabia), or at Danis and Valmass (Belgium). Oily sludge from the oil industry,
discharged into vast lagoons during many years is being treated in a fluidized
bed incinerator in Romania generating energy and decontaminating the soil.
BIOMASS: Energy crops, shredded wood, manure, kitchen-, gardenwaste
and other organic waste is turned into green energy in state-of-the-art installations
in West-Vleteren, and Ieper in Belgium. Other projects are due to start
being constructed in other parts of Europe.
MUNICIPAL SOLID WASTE: WATERLEAU has built a municipal solid waste
incineration plant in Shanghai producing 18 MWe. Other plants with identical
energy output are under construction in Benzhou, Jixi and Haian (China).
INDUSTRIAL SOLID WASTE: WATERLEAU has built a new incinerator in the
Antwerp harbour, turning up to 30.000 tons of medical waste (total Benelux
capacity) into green energy. The same plant turns hazardous and industrial
waste into renewable energy.
Company description
WATERLEAU offers environmental and turn-key solutions based on
proprietary technologies for water, air, waste treatment and renewable
energy. From design over enginering to construction and operation and
maintenance, its 350 specialists are protecting the 4 elements of nature in
more than 1000 projects over 80 countries around the globe. Competence
