Some volunteers are retired but others fit time at<br />

whom are fascinated to see conservation work<br />

<strong>THE</strong> ROYAL <strong>AIR</strong> FORCE <strong>AIR</strong><br />

<strong>POWER</strong> CD-ROM<br />

To support the <strong>Air</strong> Power Training Strategy <strong>for</strong> the<br />

<strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Air</strong> <strong>Force</strong>, an interactive CD-ROM entitled<br />

‘<strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Air</strong> <strong>Force</strong> <strong>Air</strong> Power’ has been produced by<br />

the <strong>Air</strong> Warfare <strong>Centre</strong>, in consultation with the<br />

Ministry of Defence <strong>Air</strong> Historical Branch (<strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Air</strong><br />

<strong>Force</strong>) and Director of Defence Studies (<strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Air</strong><br />

<strong>Force</strong>). Produced commercially by OP&S Ltd, the<br />

‘<strong>RAF</strong> <strong>Air</strong> Power’ CD-ROMs will be ready <strong>for</strong><br />

distribution in April and May 2000 and published<br />

under Crown Copyright. All material within the CD-<br />

ROM has been scrutinised and approved by<br />

relevant specialist authorities. The CD-ROM<br />

package will contain two disks, both containing a<br />

large number of video clips.<br />

The first disk contains:<br />

● A historical section charting the development of<br />

<strong>RAF</strong> air power.<br />

● A detailed timeline highlighting key events within<br />

the historical section.<br />

● 85 pen pictures of key contributors to the<br />

development of <strong>RAF</strong> air power.<br />

● A section on equipment,<br />

containing all current and<br />

future aircraft and weapons<br />

systems.<br />

● A section on air power<br />

doctrine based on ‘British <strong>Air</strong><br />

Power Doctrine’ and the <strong>RAF</strong><br />

<strong>Air</strong> Operations Manual.<br />

The second disk concentrates on<br />

<strong>RAF</strong> units and contains<br />

in<strong>for</strong>mation on the role of each<br />

<strong>RAF</strong> station both at home and<br />

overseas.<br />

Starting in April 2000, copies of<br />

the ‘<strong>RAF</strong> <strong>Air</strong> Power’ CD-ROM will<br />

be distributed free of charge to all<br />

serving <strong>RAF</strong> officers and airmen.<br />

It will also be distributed to future<br />

officer cadets, airmen recruits and<br />

to all current and future reservists.<br />
