advisor/guide, etc. Among all the people you meet in the institute,
your PhD advisor has the most important role to play in your
research life. Keeping in touch with your PhD advisor regularly will
help you shape your research pursuits and contribute your research
findings to the scholarly community.
Like graduate programs, doctoral program also begins with
comprehensive coursework suggested by the faculty advisors of the
respective departments. Some departments also have a PhD
qualifying examination and/or course grade cutoff to verify the
caliber and capability of the PhD student to continue the research
work. In addition to faculty advisor, most departments also have
student companions to help you with the academic and non-academic
issues. And if you attend all classes attentively and meet the
department requirements, you also have better prospects to seek good
employment opportunities. All scholars are provided with a unique
LDAP ID, which gives you access to all the student resources such as
ASC, IITB mail box (GPO), library etc. Most importantly mails
addressed with subjects “Events”, “Student-Notices”, “Seminars”
should not be deleted without reading them, as they talk about the
various events and student activities happening in the campus. In
addition to these, we also have excellent library with wide collection
of books and bibliography.
Sports and cultural activities (facilitated through SAC) are
also centers of vibrant life at IITB. We have trained sportsmen to
teach various sports such as tennis, badminton, swimming, squash
with excellent practice courts and training rooms. We encourage you
to participate in student cultural activities such dramatics, music,
dance and foreign language courses to explore your talents, while
following your research pursuits. We have compiled all the
information necessary on academics and non-academics aspects of
your stay here at IITB. However, feel free to get in touch with us for
any help and guidance on any issue that may surface. We heartily
welcome you to an experience at our institute that will pave the way
