Good to Know 

Our rail packages give you the fantastic opportunity to explore Switzerland by train including the world famous panoramic 

trains. The rail system in Switzerland is highly developed, reliabel, punctual, safe and hassle-free. All central stations 

are located within the city and can be reached easily from the airports and hotels by public transport. 

The packages can be booked freesale until 7 days prior arrival, thereafter on request. The given prices are commissionable 

as per our conditions on page 67. For all tours you can add extra nights in any of the destinations. 

All of them include the half fare card with discounts between 25% to 50% of the normal price for train, bus, boat and 

some cable cars. Children under the age of 16 travel free of charge on train when accompanied by at least one parent 

holding the Swiss Family Card. Also, the Swiss Card includes any border or airport arrival/departure point in Switzerland. 

The pick up locations for the travel documents are conveniently located at Zurich Airport, Geneva Airport and Basel 

Airport. Detailed information about the pick-up location will follow with your reservation.

Zermatt - St. Moritz 

From Matterhorn to the Upper Engadine or vice versa. Travel on the famous Glacier Express – one of Switzerland’s 

best scenic train rides across the Alps connecting two of the most popular resorts – Zermatt and St. Moritz. The 

entire journey takes around 7.5 hours and crosses 291 bridges, passes through 91 tunnels and climbs over the 

2033 m high Oberalp Pass. There are of course faster ways to travel. But none as beautiful as the journey by Glacier 

Express, the panoramic train traveling right through the Swiss Alps. Here the journey is really the destination.

Day 1: Arrival Zermatt 

Transfer by train from the border, airport or any other destination in Switzerland to Zermatt. Short walk to your hotel 

and check in. 

Zermatt lies at the foot of the Matterhorn. The town‘s touristic development is closely linked to what is most probably 

the world‘s most famous mountain. The vacation destination is a car-free zone, has preserved its original character 

and offers nearly unlimited possibilities as far as excursions are concerned. 

Overnight in Zermatt. 

Day 2: Zermatt - St. Moritz with Glacier Express 

Today you take the world famous Glacier Express for a thrilling ride in the panorama carriage to St. Moritz. Take in 

some of the dramatic scenery Switzerland has to offer. The journey is narrated explaining the amazing engineering 

feat in overcoming extreme altitude variations by train. After an exhilarating trip, you will arrive in St. Moritz, the world 

famous holiday resort. Overnight in St. Moritz. 

Day 3: Departure 

After a good breakfast you can enjoy St. Moritz a little bit longer and spend some time and money in some of the many 

shops in this town or participate in one of the traditional sports, such as hiking and climbing or holiday-makers can 

enjoy a spot of sailing, windsurfing, a rubber dinghy ride on the River Inn, tennis and horseback riding. And St. Moritz 

with a total of four golf courses is an absolute golfer‘s paradise in the Alps.

St. Moritz - Tirano - Lugano 

The Bernina Express runs through the ancient landscape of Switzerland‘s beautiful Grisons (Graubünden) making 

short work of the 55 tunnels, 196 bridges and steep inclines along the way. Special observation cars will let you 

admire the route as well as the mighty glaciers, viaducts and palm trees from the comfort of your seat. The final 

stretch of the Bernina Express line has been classed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2008. For some southern 

charm you change in Tirano to the Bernina Express Bus which will take you onwards to Ticino. Through the 

vineyards to Veltlin and along the banks of Lake Como this lovely journey ends in Lugano, Ticino’s largest town.

Day 1: Arrival St. Moritz 

Transfer by train from the border, airport or any other destination in Switzerland to St. Moritz. Short walk to your hotel, 

check in and leisure time. 

King Carl Gustaf of Sweden is only one of the many prominent guests of St. Moritz. St. Moritz is often called an Alpine 

metropolis. There are numerous luxury hotels, spas and upscale shops against an Alpine background of lakes and 

mountains.

Day 2: St. Moritz - Lugano with Bernina Express 

Board the narrow-gauge Bernina Express at St. Moritz station and enjoy one of the most impressive scenic rail journeys 

Switzerland has to offer. Climbing over the spectacular Bernina Pass to more than 2253 m you pass snow covered 

mountain peaks and glaciers to descend towards Poschiavo and Brusio. Travel over circular viaducts and pass 

through winding tunnels before reaching Tirano in Italy which is the end of the Bernina Express rail line. Change to 

the Bernina Express Bus which will take you onwards to Ticino. Through the vineyards of Veltlin and along the banks 

of Lake Como this lovely journey ends in Lugano – Southern Switzerland’s largest town. Overnight in Lugano. 


After your breakfast you can either have more leisure time in Lugano, the largest town in the holiday region of Ticino, 

Lugano is not only Switzerland‘s third most important financial centre and a conference, banking and business centre,

gorge, over the Oberalp pass (2,033m/6,670ft) and along the deep valley of the Rhône, the Glacier Express travels

Day 3: St. Moritz - Lugano with Bernina Express

Lucerne - Lugano 

The Wilhelm Tell Express links two of Switzerland’s most attractive regions: Central Switzerland and Ticino. 

It starts with an unforgettable cruise aboard a vintage paddle steamer from Lucerne to Flüelen. It is 

then on to the Italien-speaking part with its Mediterranean climate, palm trees and glittering blue lakes. 

It’s hard to believe that a cruise this long is possible on Lake Lucerne. One repeatedly has the feeling 

of simply being underway on a small romantic lake, encircled by idyllic places and nearby mountains. 

But then the steamer makes a gracious turn around a headland, just where the lake seems 

to come to an end. Your steamboat will take you to Flüelen, where the Gotthard Railway awaits you.

Day 1: Arrival Lucerne 

Transfer by rail from the border, airport or any other destination in Switzerland to Lucerne. Short walk from the railway 

station to your hotel. Depending on arrival time opportunity to discover the Old Town. Lucerne lies on the river Reuss, 

at the end of Lake Lucerne, framed by impressive mountains. The city has been a stronghold of tourism since 1840, 

thanks to the well-preserved Old Town with its Chapel Bridge and Water Tower.

Day 2: Lucerne - Lugano with Wilhelm Tell Express 

The Wilhelm Tell Express links two of Switzerland’s most attractive regions: Central Switzerland and Ticino. The trip 

starts in Lucerne as you board a nostalgic paddle steamer or motor vessel and cruise to Flüelen on Lake Lucerne 

in about 2,5 hours. While you enjoy a hot or cold dish in the first-class restaurant, you can watch sleepy bays, picturesque 

villages and historic landmarks such as the Rütli and the Tellsplatte glide silently by on the starboard and 

port side. In Flüelen, only a few steps away from the pier, board the air-conditioned, first-class panorama cars of the 

Swiss Federal Railways. The trip continues through the awesome Reuss Valley with its deep ravines and precipitous 

cliffs. The world-famous Gotthard line swiftly climbs from 470 to about 1100 meters above sea level to finally enter the 

15 kilometer long Gotthard tunnel in Göschenen, Europe’s most important north/south gateway. Countless spiral and 

horseshoe tunnels, galleries and bridges testify to the remarkable achievements of the men who built this masterpiece 

of civil engineering. Then, after the 10-minute tunnel passage, you’ll arrive in Ticino. In the Leventina Valley, the 

Wilhelm Tell Express crosses breathtaking cantilevered bridges and passes charming villages on its way to Bellinzona. 

Change here to continue your journey to Lugano. Overnight in Lugano.

rail to the airport/border or on to your next holiday destination.

Lucerne - Interlaken - Montreux 

Combine three of the most attractive regions in Switzerland in one exciting rail holiday on the GoldenPass Line 

from Central Switzerland via the Bernese Oberland to the Lake Geneva region. Two languages, three worlds, six 

lakes, one line: That’s the GoldenPass Line. In Montreux, palm trees and southern ambience still prevail along the 

„Swiss Riviera“. French peppers the air. The golden panorama train squeezes through vineyards and gardens on 

its ascent, one last glimpse back at Lake Geneva, a tunnel, then black fir trees, fast-flowing streams. Cosy chalets 

in the valley and on the slopes. Lake Thun soon comes into view. You are travelling to Interlaken. The train, which

Transfer by train from the border, airport or any other destination in Switzerland to Lucerne. Short walk from the railway 

station to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time opportunity to discover the Old Town on your own. 

Lucerne, the gateway to central Switzerland, sited on Lake Lucerne, is embedded within an impressive mountainous 

panorama. Thanks to its attractions, its souvenir and watch shops, the beautiful lakeside setting and the nearby excursion 

mountains of the Rigi, Pilatus and Stanserhorn, the town is a destination for many travel groups and individuals 

on their journey through central Switzerland. Overnight in Lucerne. 

Day 2: Lucerne – Montreux with GoldenPass Line 

After breakfast short walk to the railway station. The trains of the Zentralbahn are waiting for you for a small trip 

around the world: two languages, three worlds, six lakes, one line – that’s the GoldenPass Line. Starting in the German 

speaking Lucerne region, the journey takes you over the Brünig pass into the Bernese Oberland. Passing Lake 

Brienz and after a short journey you arrive at Interlaken. Along the shores of Lake Thun you reach the Simmen valley 

with Zweisimmenn and the world known holiday resort of Gstaad. French peppers the air. Further on through the wild 

romantic Pays d’Enhaut with the scenic villages of Château d’Oex and Montbovon continues the journey through a 

tunnel before the panoramic view of the Lake Geneva and Montreux opens in front of you. Short walk from the railway 

station to your hotel and overnight in Montreux. 


After your breakfast you may take some more time to explore Montreux and its beautiful surroundings. The town of 

Montreux nestles in a sheltered Lake Geneva bay, surrounded by vineyards and against the breathtaking backdrop of 

snow-covered Alps. The Montreux Jazz Festival, which takes place in June/July and features concerts on a variety of 

stages and parks is very famous.

After arrival in Lucerne check in at your hotel. The city, gateway to central Switzerland, is embedded within an impressive 

mountainous panorama and the medieval Chapel Bridge. Overnight in Lucerne. 

Day 2: Lucerne / Round trip Furka steam railway and “Postauto” bus 

Depart from Lucerne in the early morning to Realp. The Furka Cogwheel Steam Railway journey leads through the 

mountain scenery of the central Alps, offering up views of summits and glaciers. In Gletsch transfer to the bus which 

takes you via Grimsel Pass to Meiringen and back by train to Lucerne. Overnight in Lucerne. 

Day 3: Lucerne / Excursion Mount Rigi 

Start your Mt. Rigi experience with a boat trip to the train station in Vitznau. Enjoy the ride with the mountain cogwheel 

railway under steam to the top of Mt. Rigi. A breathtaking 36’ degree panoramic view across the Alps, of 13 lakes and 

over the entire Swiss Midlands through to Germany and France can be enjoyed there. For your way back enjoy the 

ride with the panoramic aerial cable car to Weggis and on to Lucerne by boat. Overnight in Lucerne. 

Day 4: Lucerne / Excursion Berne 

Short trip by train to the capital of Switzerland. The medieval air of this city with its many fountains, sandstone facades, 

narrow streets and historic towers is unique. The elevated Rose Garden above the Bear Park and the platform of the 

101-metre high cathedral tower offer the best views of the old town. Return to Lucerne and overnight. 

Day 5: Lucerne / Excursion Interlaken and Jungfraujoch 

The Jungfrau Railway, which leads through the heart of the mountains and up to the highest train station in Europe 

(at 3,454 meters above sea level), offers unbelievable views of the mountain giants Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau and of 

the longest river of ice in the Alps – the Aletsch Glacier. Overnight in Lucerne. 

Day 6: Lucerne / Excursion Brienzer Rothorn 

Departure by train via Brünig Pass to Brienz. The steam train takes about one hour to climb the 1678 meters difference 

in height. Enjoy magnificent panoramic view of the Bernese and Central Swiss Alps. Return to Lucerne by train 

and overnight. 

Day 7: Lucerne / Excursion Paddle Steamer Boat Trip Lake Lucerne 

Boat cruise on Lake Lucerne in a nostalgic paddle steamer. Overnight in Lucerne. 


Enjoy a healthy breakfast and check out in the morning before your return back home.

Today you will ride on the Bernina Express over the Bernina Pass. Past mighty glaciers and over the highest point

Mont Blanc 

Day 1: Arrival Geneva 

Transfer by train from Geneva Airport to Geneva City. Check-in at your hotel. 

You will receive a Geneva Transport Card free of charge from the hotel. Taking the tram, the bus and the train on 

Geneva territory will not cost you a penny. You even can cross the lake with the yellow taxi-boats for free. This personal 

and non-transferable card is offered to you at arrival. During your stay in Geneva, you can use the entire Geneva 

transport network. 

Take the tram or walk to Place Dorcière/Gare routière. Your tour starts at 01:00pm. The live guided City tour of Geneva

Day 2: Excursion to Mt. Rochers-de-Naye (Montreux) 

Take the train to Montreux. From there get on the train up and enjoy the ride up to the peak of Rochers-de-Naye. 

Montreux’s local mountain at 2042 m.a.s.l. offers a spectacular views over Lake Geneva and the Alps. The summit can 

be reached in 1h by rack railway. The les rochers rock are as much a part of Montreux as the Chillon Castle. Already 

back in 1892 the first small steam train made its way up to Rochers de Naye. Before you head back to Geneva take 

the opportunity to explore Montreux. 

Because of the exceptionally mild climate Montreux is called the capital of the Vaud Riviera. Plants associated with 

the Mediterranean, such as pines, cypresses and palm trees grow here. Charlie Chaplin, Freddie Mercury and several

The long, flower-bordered lake promenade which links Vevey and Montreux going all the way to Chillon Castle is simply

Transfer by train from Zurich or Geneva Airport to Lucerne. 

Take the possibility to make a stop-over at Zurich or Geneva City and have a shopping tour. You can leave your luggage 

at the lockers at the Central Station. After arriving in Lucerne check-in at your hotel. Overnight in Lucerne. 

Day 2: Excursion to Mt. Titlis (5 ½ hours)

Day 1: Arrival Lugano 

After arriving in Lugano check in to your hotel. This quiet, compact little city of spacious parks lies on the shores of 

beautiful Lake Lugano, in an unspoilt landscape of lush hills and wild, remote valleys. Lake Lugano is at the southernmost 

tip of the Tessin, the holiday region south of the ridge of the Alps, and it reaches its arms out into Italy. Thanks to

La Chaux-de-Fonds 

Day 1: Arrival Berne 

After arrival in Berne check in at your hotel. Watch the famous family of bears frolicking at the Bear Park close to the 

Old town, visit the Albert Einstein House and museum, discover the Paul Klee center or clime to the platform of the 

101-metre-high cathedral tower with one of the best views over the old town and the River Aare. Overnight in Berne. 

Day 2: Discover Geneva 

The symbol of the «world’s smallest metropolis» is the “Jet d’eau” – a fountain with a 140-metre-high water jet at the 

periphery of Lake Geneva. The old town is the heart of the city with the shopping and business quarters. For your 

return trip take a boat and cruise to Lausanne, where you can catch your train back to Berne. Overnight in Berne. 

Day 3: Day trip to La Chaux-de-Fonds 

Get to know the countryside of the Jura Mountains a little bit better on your trip to La Chaux-de-Fonds. It is the birthplace

Through the Rhone valley the train takes you up to the mountain resort of Zermatt at the foot of the Matterhorn. The 

car-free village has very well preserved its original character. The Gornergrat cog railway takes you to the summit at 

3883 m and offers a fascinating panoramic view of the Matterhorn and summits of the Swiss, Italy and French Alps.

Train ride to Berne. Not many cities have managed to retain their historic features quite as successfully as Berne.

Day 2: Excursion to Mt. Pilatus including boat ride on Lake Lucerne 

This is a fantastic excursion to enjoy beautiful views of the Lake Lucerne region. Short cruise across the lake to 

Alpnachstad. Change here to the steepest cogwheel train in the world. For the return journey chose between cogwheel 

train or gondola to Kriens. Back to Lucerne by bus. Overnight in Lucerne. 

Day 3: Excursion to Interlaken and the Jungfraujoch 

Train ride to Interlaken. Change here to the Jungfrau railway, which leads through the heart of the mountains and up 

to the highest train station in Europe (at 3,454 meters above sea level). With some breathtaking views of the Aletsch 

glacier at 22 km it‘s the longest in the Alps and an UNESCO World Heritage site. Overnight in Lucerne. 

Day 4: City trip to Zurich 

Train trip to Zurich. As a “metropolis of experiences” Zurich offers a unique mixture of attractions: over 50 museums,

Travel independently and settle into your hotel in car-free Wengen. Time for initial exploring. Overnight in Wengen. 

Day 2: Jungfrau region 

Time to spend in the Jungfrau region for individual activities on foot, by cable car or by boat on Lake Thun or Lake 

Brienz . Our tipp: Visit the Trümmelbachfalls which collect the water from glaciers situated on the slopes of Mönch

Day 3: Hiking from Wengen - Grindelwald (3 hrs) - (Day 2 of the 4-day tour) 

Hike the classic mountain walk with the most beautiful views of Eiger , Mönch and Jungfrau and down into the unspoilt 

valley of the Trümmelbach. Along the terrace at the foot of the Männlichen range, the path meanders slowly up 

through woods and alpine meadows to Wengernalp and then around the slopes of the Lauberhorn to Kleine Scheidegg.

Day 5: Arosa (Day 3 of the 4-day tour) 

Enjoy the landscape of Arosa and discover the valley on own. Take advantage of the Arosa all inclusive card and have 

fun on the upper lake with renting a small boat (for free). Take a dive into the cool water! Overnight in Arosa. 

Day 6: Hiking from Arosa - Lenzerheide (6 hrs) - (Day 4 of the 4-day tour) 

Hike from your hotel to Innerarosa from where a steep path will lead up to the Hörnlihütte. To save power you can also 

use the gondola up to the hut. Walk easy at first and then constantly downhill via Motta to Scharmoin. From there you 

can either take the Rothornbahn or you walk the forest trail to Lenzerheide. Overnight in Lenzerheide. 

Day 7: Lenzerheide (Day 5 of the 4-day tour) 

Walk from the hotel 10 minutes through a beautiful forest along a little river towards the lake of Lenzerheide. Squirrels 

will join you on the way - they like eating nuts straight out of your hands. Overnight in Lenzerheide. 


Final day of hiking and you make your own way to your point of return.

Day 4: Cycling Thun - Bern (30 Km) 

Enjoy an unobstructed view over the wide plains of the Aare Valley as you journey towards the centre of Bern, the

Day 5: Cycling Bern - Biel (50 Km) 

The vegetable-growing region in the Grossen Moos and the Lake of Biel mark the scenery of today‘s route. A short 

break in the pretty little town of Aarberg is worthwhile. Overnight around Biel. 

Day 6: Cycling Biel - Solothurn (34 Km) 

Between Biel and Büren the Aare River winds its way through a fertile region, forming many loops, towards the city of 

Solothurn. You might even get the chance to see the storks circling the skies. Overnight around Solothurn. 

Day 7: Cycling Solothurn - Aarau (53 Km) 

Today continue to the medieval town of Wangen and enjoy a leisurely ride through an enchanting river landscape between 

Berken, Aarwangen and Wolfwil. Visit the pedestrian zones in Olten‘s old town before your day ends in Aarau.

Day 1: Arrival Locarno 

Transfer by train from the airport/border to Locarno. Spent the rest of the day to explore the city`s beauties - southern 

plants such as palm trees or lemon trees flourish in Locarno and give the city its special charm. The heart of the city 

is the Piazza Grande, well-known for its annual film festival. The narrow lanes of the Old Town all lead to the Piazza. 

Castello Visconteo, a castle dating back to the 12th century, lies at the edge of the Old Town. About a fifth of the castle 

has been preserved in its original state. 

Overnight Locarno. 

Day 2: Locarno - Verzasca Valley / Bungy Jump 

After a healthy breakfast start your journey to the Verzasca valley where you will enjoy a lifetime experience. The post 

bus takes you in 20 minutes from Locarno station directly to the Verzasca dam, your meeting point for the 007 Bungy 

Jump. You need to be at the meeting point 15 minutes prior to the scheduled jump. You will need to plan approximately 

30 minutes for registration, training and the actual jump. The jump action itself lasts approximately 5 minutes. Your 

jumping time will be advised at the time of booking. 

Return back to Locarno by post bus. Overnight in Locarno.

Booking & Payment Conditions 

Bookings 

Please send your booking request to touroperating@stc.ch. All packages can be booked freesale up to 7 days 

prior arrival, thereafter on request. This excludes black-out dates for fairs, congresses and special events. Child 

prices is available on request only. Confirmed bookings can only be cancelled as per below cancellation conditions. 

Commission 

STC pays the following commission on gross amounts stated in attached FIT offers: 

• 20% to tour operators and wholesalers 

• 10% to travel agencies 

The commission will be deducted and net amount invoiced. 

Bookings Online 

All wellness and romance packages can be booked on the STC booking engine at net rate. 

Payment 

The full amount of the tour must be received by STC prior to the first departure day of the tour. If the payment is not 

being received 3 working days prior to the start of the tour, we reserve the right to cancel the services. For bookings 

made within 14 days before departure, full credit card payment will be required. 

Amendment fee 

60.- CHF per file if travel date, hotel category or name change are required. 

Cancellation cost 

• 30 - 15 days before tour departure 60.- CHF per file 

• 14 - 4 days before tour departure 30% of the total confirmed tour price 

• 0 - 3 days before tour departure 100% ot the total confirmed tour price 

Credit card payment 

Credit card payment can be done with additional 2% surcharge on the total amount of the package.
