NCLB Parent Notification
Parents may request information
regarding the professional qualifications of
their student’s classroom. This includes:
· Whether the teacher has met Ohio
qualifications and licensing criteria for the
grade levels and subject areas in which
the teacher provides instruction.
· Whether the teacher is teaching under
an emergency license or waiver through
which the state qualifications or licensing
criteria have been waived.
· The bachelor’s degree major of the teacher
and any other graduate certification or
degree held by the teacher, and the field
or discipline of the certification or degree.
· Whether the child is provided services
by paraprofessionals and, if so, their
qualifications.
Lancaster City Schools: Roadway to a Strong Community 11
District to Utilize PENN Alert System for Communication
For the second year in a row, the district plans to
contract with Azzini Communications for the PENN
Alert Personal Notification Network. This is an outbound
message notification system used for emergencies and
announcements. Your child’s contact information has been
placed on this system. Your contact data will be held in
strict confidence and will never be sold or shared.
You may opt out by notifying Steve Scott, Director of
Educational Information and Technology Services, in writing
at 345 E. Mulberry Street, Lancaster, OH 43130.
This system is cost effective and should expedite
notification of delays, closings and the unusual
circumstances of early dismissals. Unfortunately we are
not able to offer specific times of contact. Every reasonable
effort will be made to notify you in sufficient time to make
alternate plans and more expeditiously than previous TV
and Radio postings.
The automated call you receive will be identified as a
call from Lancaster City Schools. It will be important to
remember to speak (hello) so the system knows to start
the message. Your Caller ID will show the School District’s
main phone number. If you receive the message on a voice
mail system, remember that you do not need to press the 1
button because you are only listening to a voice message.
Once the automated call contacts you, it will explain the
situation and the action needed, please remember the
following:
School Cancelled
No students will attend school. There will be no bus
service provided for any students, and there will be no
transportation for students who attend private/parochial
schools.
1-Hour Delay or 2-Hour Delay
All students will report to school 1 hour or 2 hours later
than their usual starting time. The children will be picked up
by their regularly assigned bus at their regular stop on a 1
hour or 2 hour delay schedule. This also includes students
that attend private/parochial schools in the area.
If an emergency arises during the school day, it may be
necessary to dismiss students from school early. Parents of
primary and elementary school students should establish a
family plan for such a contingency. The family plan should
be followed in the event of an early dismissal. It is important
that families discuss the possibility of an early dismissal
with their children so they will know what you have planned.
