During the meeting with FNCCI,<br />

it was agreed that <strong>CII</strong> and FNCCI would set up Joint<br />

Committees in the sectors of Hydro power, IT & BPO,<br />

Climate Change and Infrastructure. The existing <strong>CII</strong> –<br />

FNCCI Joint Economic Council will also be revived and<br />

the next meeting of the council will be held in January<br />

2011 in New Delhi. A high level business delegation<br />

from FNCCI will also visit India on the occasion of<br />

<strong>CII</strong> Partnership Summit to be held in January 2011 in<br />

Jaipur. The <strong>CII</strong> delegation urged FNCCI to explore new<br />

centres in India for investments and joint ventures such<br />

as Patna and Chennai. The delegation also took up the<br />

issues of Indian JVs in Nepal with FNCCI.<br />

At the meetings with the Ministers, The <strong>CII</strong> delegation<br />

took up the issues of early signing of the Bilateral<br />

Investment Protection Agreement (BIPA), revised Double<br />

Taxation Avoidable Agreement, wrong information media<br />

United Kingdom<br />

<strong>CII</strong> - NFIA Business Networking Evening<br />

<strong>CII</strong> and the NFIA (Netherlands Foreign Investment<br />

Agency) organised a business networking evening<br />

to bring Indian industry in UK in contact with their<br />

counterparts from Netherlands and discuss the<br />

opportunities for business on 16 November. The event<br />

was hosted by Mr Pim Waldeck, Ambassador of the<br />

Kingdom of the Netherlands.<br />

campaign against Indian ventures in Nepal, etc.<br />

The delegation felt that, in spite of political instability,<br />

there are tremendous opportunities for Indian companies<br />

to develop their business in Nepal.<br />

The <strong>CII</strong> delegation explored the shop of investment<br />

into sector like commercial agriculture, hydropower,<br />

information and technology and health, as well as IT<br />

and other technological areas to develop competent<br />

human resources.<br />

The Nepal-India Chamber of Commerce and Industry<br />

(NICCI) viewed that since tourism can well be<br />

leveraged for the economic development of the country,<br />

more Indian investment into it is desirable especially<br />

in the context of the upcoming Nepal Tourism Year<br />

2011.<br />

The keynote speaker for the evening was Mr Jacques<br />

Cailloux, Chief European Economist, Royal Bank of<br />

Scotland, who spoke on the future of European Markets.<br />

The event was attended by about 50 business leaders<br />

including the members of <strong>CII</strong>-India Business Forum.<br />

Investing in Wales<br />

<strong>CII</strong> met with the Welsh Assembly Government in Cardiff<br />

on 24 November to discuss partnerships in promoting<br />

bilateral trade and investments between Wales and<br />

India.<br />

<strong>CII</strong>-Malta Enterprise Networking Reception<br />

Malta Enterprise, a Government of Malta organisation<br />

to promote business, and a partner of <strong>CII</strong>, hosted<br />

a networking reception for <strong>CII</strong>-IBF UK members in<br />

London on 25 November. The reception was of great<br />

business value as <strong>CII</strong> members from the pharma,<br />

renewable energy, oil and gas and tourism sectors met<br />

with their counterparts from Malta to discuss business<br />

opportunities.<br />

The Malta Enterprise had in 2009 invited and hosted <strong>CII</strong><br />

to Malta for business meetings and this had resulted in<br />
