MANAGEMENT AREAS<br />

4.1 Introduction<br />

The following section deals in detail with various specific issues as they relate to each <strong>of</strong> the<br />

<strong>Management</strong> Areas within <strong>Governor</strong> <strong>Phillip</strong> <strong>Park</strong>. Broad management issues, which are dealt with<br />

in Section 5 <strong>of</strong> this <strong>Plan</strong>, have been covered in a more detailed level in this section where they<br />

relate to a specific <strong>Management</strong> Area.<br />

The management areas within the park are as follows:<br />

• Frontal dune.<br />

• South-eastern recreation and parking area.<br />

• Surf club.<br />

• Hind dune.<br />

• North-eastern recreation and parking area.<br />

• Northern dune and sand spit.<br />

• Station Beach.<br />

• Palm Beach Golf Course.<br />

• Lower western picnic / parking area.<br />

• Former Ranger’s Cottage and environs.<br />

Figure 6.1 shows the location <strong>of</strong> the identified management areas<br />

The following tables outline:<br />

• Issues affecting the specific <strong>Management</strong> Area.<br />

• Strategies and actions to address the issues.<br />

• Responsibility, priority and cost <strong>of</strong> implementing the action.<br />

• Performance measures placed against each action, as a means <strong>of</strong> evaluating the<br />

achievement <strong>of</strong> the action.<br />

As Trust managers <strong>of</strong> the park, <strong>Council</strong> has a commitment to maintain and improve the park in<br />

recognition <strong>of</strong> this trusteeship. The <strong>Plan</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Management</strong> provides an outline scope and timeframe<br />

for capital works that are required to bring the park to its desired standard.<br />
