The Department held its State Convention at Turn<strong>in</strong>g Stone<br />
Cas<strong>in</strong>o Resort, <strong>in</strong> Verona, New York. On Wednesday, May 11,<br />
there was an <strong>in</strong>formal gather<strong>in</strong>g of old friends <strong>in</strong> the Hospitality<br />
Room, where attendees share snacks and beverages while renew<strong>in</strong>g<br />
old friendships. The follow<strong>in</strong>g day, the meet<strong>in</strong>g of the veterans<br />
was conducted by Jim Ferris, the Department of New York<br />
(L-R) Jim Ferris, Les Peate, and Lou Dechert at the DNY <strong>convention</strong><br />
State President.<br />
Ferris <strong>in</strong>troduced two <strong>National</strong> Presidents, Lou Dechert,<br />
President of the <strong>Korean</strong> <strong>War</strong> Veterans Association, and Les<br />
Peate, his counterpart with the Canadian <strong>Korean</strong> <strong>War</strong> Veterans.<br />
Dur<strong>in</strong>g the meet<strong>in</strong>g, several discussions were held regard<strong>in</strong>g the<br />
