MC3570 Quality TV Drama Spring TUTOR: Dr Matt Hills 20 Credits Aims of the Module: This module aims to identify and analyse different concepts of, and criteria for, ‗quality‘ TV. It considers quality in relation to specific themes (politics/culture/history); specific genres (e.g. the thriller and the costume drama); specific discourses of art and authorship; specific audiences and demographics; and diversity of representation. Learning Outcomes: On completion of the module a student should be able to: Demonstrate awareness of the cultural, academic & media-industrial factors underpinning definitions of ‗quality‘ TV Drama; Critically engage with a range of concepts of ‗quality‘ TV drama, considering the extent to which these are medium-specific; Analyse ‗quality‘ in relation to a specific TV drama case study.
