<strong>Pennsylvania</strong> Governor Rendell<br />
Addresses 2007 Graduates<br />
It’s not <strong>of</strong>ten that a sitting governor gives the commencement address<br />
at a <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Nursing</strong>. This year, however, was just that kind <strong>of</strong><br />
extraordinary time when <strong>Pennsylvania</strong> Governor Edward G. Rendell<br />
spoke before 323 graduates <strong>of</strong> BSN, MSN, and PhD programs, friends,<br />
family, faculty, and staff in the glittering Kimmel Center for the<br />
Performing Arts in Philadelphia.<br />
The Governor used the opportunity to discuss key elements <strong>of</strong> a<br />
sweeping healthcare reform plan, now being used as a model in other<br />
states, to give uninsured <strong>Pennsylvania</strong>ns<br />
greater access to healthcare<br />
by among other measures, breaking<br />
down legislative barriers to nursing<br />
practice.<br />
