Acquisition
Oakland Schools, in cooperation with
local school districts, will provide
assistance in the acquisition of
assistive technology devices by
developing and supporting:
❏ A process for sharing resources,
including personnel and
equipment.
❏ A coordinated lending library of
technology for trial use.
❏ A list of potential consistent funding
sources.
❏ A process for allocation and
reallocation of equipment.
❏ A standard inventory process.
❏ Vendor partnerships.
This addresses subsection (B) of the
definition of assistive technology
services. page iv.
County-wide cooperation in locating
information and referral sources for
assistance with these components is
further addressed under guidelines 21
and 22.
❏ Guideline 4 – Device Selection
and Maintenance
Oakland Schools, in cooperation with
local school districts, will provide
assistance in the selection and
maintenance of assistive technology
devices by developing and supporting:
❏ Student competency with device
usage.
❏ Trial use of devices across
environments.
❏ A process for, and funding of,
repairs and replacements.
❏ Family input and participation in the
training process.
❏ Application strategies across
curriculum and environments.
