200 let United Steel Workers
Local 624 know that they were
not alone during their four-month long strike
against Husky Lima Refining Company. In
solidarity, they donated $1,000 to help the
striking workers with the ongoing costs of
being off the job.

2012 Horizon Award
In an effort to recognize the numerous contributions
to Ohio’s communities made by union members,
OCSEA’s Board of Directors established an annual
award program. The Horizon Award honors and publicizes
the often-overlooked acts of service, volunteerism, donation,
and heroism made by OCSEA members.
Two Horizon Award recipients were honored at the
August Board of Director’s meeting with a special ceremony
and presented with a plaque. Andrew Hartsel,
London Correctional, and Doug Mosier, Mansfield
Correctional Institution, were the recipients of those
awards for their continued service to their communities.
“Their charitable efforts enrich and raise the quality of our
neighborhoods and society,” said OCSEA Sec.-Treas Kathy
Stewart. OCSEA made a donation of $250 each to the
charity of their choice.

that OCSea members do in the
community is a high priority and
is a major component of the OCSea
Board of Directors’ 2013 Strategic
Plan.
