A native of Missouri, Anne Dawson
received the Bachelor of Music
Education degree from Truman
State University (formerly Northeast
Missouri State University,) in Kirksville,
Missouri, and the Master of Music
degree in Vocal Performance from
the University of Oklahoma. Dawson
is in her twenty-second year as the
Vocal Music Director at Westmoore
High School, where she directs six
performing groups, (Chamber Choir,
Concert Choir, Women’s Choir,
Freshman Choir, Show Choir, and
Chamber Singers,) teaches Advanced
Placement Music Theory, and is a
sponsor for the junior class. Prior to
assuming her position at Westmoore,
she team- taught junior high and
high school vocal music with John
Gerber at Weatherford Public Schools.
Dawson has adjudicated district and
state music festivals in Oklahoma and
Missouri. In addition to her position
at Westmoore, she held the office of
OMEA All-State Mixed Chorus Chair
for the 2010-2011 school year. She
has served on the choral faculty of
the Oklahoma Arts Institute and the
Canterbury Choral Society Board of
Directors, and is a member of the

Dr. Darla Eshelman has been a music
educator for thirty–two years, and over
half of those have been in Oklahoma.
She is currently is Associate Professor
of Music Education and Program
Coordinator for the Vocal Music
Education degree at UCO, where she
has been on the faculty since 2009.
She teaches undergraduate and
graduate courses in music education,
supervises student teachers, and
conducts Cantilena, the university
women’s chorus. She is the founder
and director for the Young Choirs
of Central Oklahoma, a community
based weekly choral program for
students in grades five to nine. In
addition to community, state, regional
and national performing, these
young choirs also provide weekly
lab experience for UCO vocal music
education majors.
Eshelman’s passion is training
future music educators. She truly
enjoys watching the growth of her
students from the time they enter
college as freshmen, through student
teaching, and then later in their
own classrooms. She is also an
active choral music composer, with
a variety of published works. Her

Jackie Gilley is a native of Stratford,
Texas, and was the band director at
Monroney Middle School in Midwest
City, for twenty–nine years. She also
taught color guard at Midwest City
HS for eighteen years. Her first job
was in Miami, Texas, teaching art,
band, and yearbook. Jackie received
her Bachelor of Arts degree in
Ceramics and her Masters of Music
Education degree from Southwestern
Oklahoma State University. She is also
accredited in Secondary Education
Administration from the University of
Central Oklahoma.
Gilley earned accreditation in 2002
as a “National Certified Teacher” in
Instrumental Music, and she was
also Monroney Teacher of the Year
in 1992 and 2003. In 2012, Jackie
was inducted into the Oklahoma
Bandmasters Association Hall of
Fame. She is past president of
the Beta Chapter of Phi Beta Mu
International Bandmasters Fraternity
and also a member of OMEA, OBA,
MENC, and WIBDA.
Gilley is well known as an adjudicator
throughout the United States. She
has been an adjudicator for Winter
Guard International, Drum Corps
