MAIREE PANTZER, CONDUCTOR All–State Women’s Chorus Mairee Pantzer received her Bachelor of <strong>Music</strong> in Voice Performance from Wheaton College,and went on to serve four years as the music teacher for an inner-city Chicago school. She then joined Children’s Chorus of Maryland as Assistant Artistic Director and Teacher, and was named Artistic Director in 2006 for five years. Pantzer completed Level I & <strong>II</strong> Kodály studies at the American Kodály Institute and finished Kodály Level <strong>II</strong>I coursework at James Madison University. In 2011, she completed the MME degree (Choral Studies emphasis) at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. She conducted the National Youth Choir for the OAKE Convention in March of 2011. In October, the American Choral Directors Association printed her article titled A Conversation with Composer, Teacher, and Conductor Betty Bertaux in the Choral Journal. She has served as an adjudicator, conductor, and clinician for music workshops and both locally and nationally. SANDRA SNOW, CONDUCTOR All–State Women’s Chorus As conductor, teacher, and scholar, Dr. Sandra Snow’s work spans a wide variety of ages, abilities, and musics. She holds appointments in conducting and music education at the Michigan State University College of <strong>Music</strong>, where she interacts with undergraduate and graduate students in the areas of conducting, choral pedagogy, and choral singing. She is a recipient of the MSU Teacher-Scholar Award. Snow conducts the Michigan State University Women’s Chamber Ensemble, a group that has appeared at consecutive conferences of the American Choral Directors Association (National Conference 2009; Central Division 2008; MI-ACDA 2007). Upcoming conducting engagements include the Arkansas Men’s All-State Choir, Iowa All-State, Tucson Women’s Choir Festival and she is a featured conductor/teacher at the 20<strong>13</strong> Festival 500 in Newfoundland, Canada. WILL CAMPBELL, CONDUCTOR All–State Jazz Ensemble Will Campbell is the Director of Jazz Studies and Associate Professor of Saxophone at UNC Charlotte. Prior to this position, he was the Director of Jazz Studies at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, <strong>Oklahoma</strong>. He holds the DMA degree form the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and the Bachelor of <strong>Music</strong> degree and MM from the University of North Texas. While attending UNT, he was a member of the One O’clock Lab Band and directed the Three O’clock Lab Band. From 1990 to 1994, he toured internationally and recorded with the Harry Connick, Jr. Orchestra. His debut recording, Think Tank, is available on Cellar Live Records. In a review of Think Tank for All About Jazz, Raul d’Gama Rose stated, “Campbell is always meticulous in his pace, letting his warm, fat tone sing out as he constructs solos of breathtaking resonance.” In 1995, he was awarded a National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Fellowship Grant which allowed him to study privately with renowned saxophonist Dick Oatts in New York City. He has published articles in the Jazz Education Journal, The Saxophone Journal, and The Saxophone Symposium, and his arrangements and compositions are now available through University of Northern Colorado Jazz Press and Dorn Publications. Campbell is an Artist/ Clinician for the Conn-Selmer Company and a Performing Artist for Rico Reeds and endorses these products exclusively. CRAIG JESSOP, CONDUCTOR All–State Mixed Chorus Dr. Craig Jessop has been a major influence in the American choral scene for more than three decades. As <strong>Music</strong> Director of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Director of the United States Air Force Singing Sergeants in Washington D.C., he has performed in most prestigious concert halls of the nation and around the world. Included in his many performances were the 1983 ACDA National Convention in Nashville with the Singing Sergeants and the 2005 Convention in Los Angeles with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Under Jessop’s artistic direction, the Tabernacle Choir received numerous awards, including the National Medal of Arts. He has recorded more than fifteen CDs on the Telarc and MTC labels while receiving a Grammy nomination for his work with the Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square. In 2008, he was appointed Professor of <strong>Music</strong> and Head of the <strong>Music</strong> Department at Utah State University. He founded the American Festival Chorus and Orchestra later that year as an ensemble dedicated to the performance of major choral works. In 2010 he became the Founding Dean for the Caine College of the Arts at USU where he is responsible for the departments of Art, <strong>Music</strong> Theater and the Eccles Museum. ROBERT GARDNER, CONDUCTOR All-State Orchestra Robert Gardner is a bassist, conductor and composer with experience in a wide variety of musical genres. He has served on the faculty of the Penn State School of <strong>Music</strong> since 2003, where he is an associate professor of music education, specializing in stringed instrument playing and teaching, orchestral conducting, and eclectic styles for string ensembles. Gardner has written chapters and articles in various publications, including Arts Education Policy Review and American String Teacher, and has given presentations at conferences and workshops throughout the country. His research has focused on the nature of improvisation and composition, as well as the supply and demand of American public school music teachers. He has written and published several of his compositions and arrangements for strings. Gardner received his bachelor’s degree in music education from the Ohio State University, and his master’s and PhD degrees in music education from the Eastman School of <strong>Music</strong>. Prior to joining the faculty at Penn State, he served as orchestra director and instructor for public school districts in Ohio and New York. Gardner was also music director for two youth orchestras at the Hochstein School of <strong>Music</strong>, and has been guest conductor for many honors ensembles. He has designed and directed programs for adult learners and eclectic styles for string ensembles. Robert served as Chair of the Alternative Styles Task Force for the American String Teachers Association (ASTA), and as President of the Pennsylvania Delaware chapter of ASTA (PADESTA). STEVE PETERSON, CONDUCTOR All-State Band Dr. Stephen Peterson was appointed director of bands at Ithaca College, New York, in 1998, where he currently conducts the Wind Ensemble, teaches courses in conducting and wind literature, and heads the band and MM wind conducting programs. From 1988-1998 he served as Associate Director of Bands at Northwestern University in Evanston. He held positions as Associate and Interim Director of Bands at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas and has several years of successful teaching experience in the public schools in Arizona. Peterson has conducted throughout the United States, and internationally.
