NOMINATED FOR VICE–PRESIDENT OF THE BAND DIVISION
Jenn Kaufmann
Candidate OMEA Vice-President for Band Division
Jenn Kauffman has been the head Band Director at
Blanchard since 2006. She previously taught in Maysville
for three years. She graduated from Hillsboro High School,
Oregon, in 1997. Her Bachelor of Music Education degree
was earned from the University of Oklahoma in 2003.
Kauffman is a member of OMEA, OSSBDA, SWOBDA,
and OBA. She has been the president of the South Central
Oklahoma Band Directors Association, the Southwestern
Oklahoma Band Directors Association, and the Oklahoma
Small Schools Band Directors Association, where she is
currently serving a second term. She is also the treasurer
for the Oklahoma Bandmasters Association. Last year the
Blanchard High School Band performed as an OMEA honor
group.
When she’s not at the band room, she enjoys spending
time with her boyfriend, Trey; her dog, Shepherd; and
Tsu, the cat. She has a passion for traveling as well as
languages, and visits foreign countries whenever she can.
She also enjoys doing anything to prove she’s not old yet,
like running longer than her students, challenging them to
scale–offs, and kicking their butts!
Adam Mewhorter
Candidate OMEA Vice-President for Band Division
Adam Mewhorter has served as the Director of Bands at
Southmoore High School since the school opened in 2008.
Prior to his appointment at Southmoore, Mewhorter served
as the Assistant Director of Bands at Moore High School,
Band Director at Highland West Junior High, as well as the
Director of Bands at Kingston Public Schools. His bands
have consistently earned Superior ratings on stage, in
sight-reading, and in marching band throughout his career.
Recently, the Southmoore Wind Ensemble has earned the
privilege of performing as a 2011 OMEA Honor Group after
only two years of the school’s being in existence.
Mewhorter earned his Bachelor of Music Education from
East Central University, and the Master of Music degree
from the University of Central Oklahoma, where he
graduated with honors. In 2004, he earned National Board
Certification in Music. Mewhorter is a life member of Kappa
Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity, which he
served as Gamma Theta Chapter President and Southwest
District President. He is a member of MENC, and OBA.
More recently, he served as Chair of the OMEA All-State
Band, and currently serves on the Oklahoma Bandmasters
Association Executive Board as President-Elect.
In his free time Mewhorter enjoys playing NCAA football
on his Sony Play station, and going to the gym to play
racquetball.
