繼 續 上 路 , 飛 抵 成 都 、 西 昌 及 冕 寧 , 晚 上 與 冕 寧 縣 林 業 局 及 涼 山 州 林 業 局 官 員 會 面 ,
探 討 當 地 保 護 區 面 臨 的 挑 戰 : 缺 乏 資 金 、 人 手 不 足 及 缺 乏 培 訓 等 。
On the road again. Today we flew to Chengdu, then to Xichang and finally on to Mianning. In the evening,
we met with staff from the Mianning Forestry Bureau and Liangshan Prefecture Forestry Bureau to discuss
the challenges facing the local reserve—lack of money, too few staff and inadequate training.

經 過 三 小 時 車 程 , 扺 達 四 川 冶 勒 自 然 保 護 區 , 一 個 孕 育 著 大 熊 貓 及 小 熊 貓 的 保 護 區 ,
然 而 由 於 缺 乏 資 金 , 保 護 區 內 的 三 個 野 外 保 護 站 缺 乏 所 需 的 器 材 , 例 如 全 球 衛 星 定 位
系 統 及 電 腦 等 。 雖 然 尚 有 多 個 保 護 區 未 及 探 訪 , 亦 惟 有 踏 上 漫 長 的 路 途 返 回 成 都 。
After a three-hour drive, we arrived at Yele Nature Reserve. Its remote mountain and valley habitats are
home to both giant pandas and red pandas. Due to insufficient funding, however, the three field stations
inside the reserve lack essential equipment like GPS and computers. With more reserves still to visit, we
began the long journey back to Chengdu.

未 來 幾 年 , 保 育 基 金 將 繼 續 協 助 國 內 保 護 區 保 育 大 熊 貓 , 包 括
• 為 保 護 區 提 供 救 援 設 備
• 重 建 地 震 受 損 設 施
• 修 復 大 熊 貓 棲 息 地 及 連 接 其 間 的 「 竹 子 走 廊 」
• 支 援 各 項 監 測 工 作 , 評 估 地 震 對 大 熊 貓 棲 息 地 選 擇 的 影 響
In the year ahead, the Foundation will continue to assist giant pandas in China by:
• Providing relief equipment to nature reserves
• Rebuilding facilities
• Restoring panda habitats and ‘bamboo corridors’ between isolated habitats
• Supporting monitoring efforts to assess the earthquake’s impact on the giant pandas
