Crinoids from the Shenley Limestone (Albian)
of Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, UK. ( 英
文 ). Hess H; Gale A S. Journal of Systematic
Palaeontology, 2010, 8(3): 427-447
A diverse and exceptionally preserved crinoid
fauna is described from the Early Albian
(Leymeriella tardefurcata Zone) Shenley
Limestone of Leighton Buzzard (Bedfordshire,
England). It is unusual in the presence of a
number of species which are the last records
of genera common in and typical of the Jurassic
(the isocrinid Balanocrinus smithi sp. nov.,
the millericrinids Apiocrinites gillieroni (de
Loriol) and an unnamed species of
Apiocrinites, and the cyclocrinid Cyclocrinus
variolarius (Seeley)), in association with the
first record of the typically Cretaceous
Roveacrinidae (Discocrinus integer sp. nov.).
Sclerocrinids (Cyrtocrinida) are represented
by Torynocinus canon and Torynocrinus globosus
sp. nov. The excellent preservation of
the material permits new and taxonomically
important observations to be made on cup
structure in the sclerocrinid and roveacrinid
species, and the first description of Torynocrinus
brachials. Additionally, the material includes
different growth stages and brachials
which allow for extended diagnoses of known
species. The fauna is also remarkable for the
association of differently sized stalked crinoids
attached either by cirri or holdfasts, and
a pelagic roveacrinid.
版 .
A diverse holothurian fauna from the Upper
Turonian of the Isle of Wolin (northwestern
Poland), is described and assessed with respect
to palaeoecology, palaeobiology and
evolutionary diversification. The fauna was
recovered from chalk and partly silicified
chalk. A stratigraphic re-assessment of all
available biostratigraphic literature permits
assignment to the Subprionocyclus neptuni
ammonite zonal age (late Turonian). The majority
of the holothurian fauna consists of apodid,
aspidochirotid, and elasipodid species.
The part of the fauna described here consists
of sclerite species of three different Recent
families of the Apodida. Two new forms, Calcancora
venusta sp. nov. and Rigaudites ernsti
sp. nov. (Synaptidae: Rynkatorpinae), are described,
figured and discussed.
Ceratocystis 一 新 种 = The oldest stylophoran
Middle Cambrian of Germany. ( 英 文 ). Rahman
Zeitschrift, 2010, 84(2): 227-237
A new stylophoran (Ceratocystis prosthiakida
sp. nov.) from the early Middle Cambrian
of the Franconian forest is described
with the aid of computed tomography, a powerful
means of visualizing fossil antomy. Investigation
in this manner enabled previously
inaccessible, buried parts of the fossil to be
imaged and studied. In addition, a procedure
for digitally correcting plate articulations was
implemented.
Crinoids and phiocistioids from classical
fossil localities of the National Geosite
"Schlade Valley", NE of Bergisch Gladbach
are reported for the first time. The fossils were
derived from the reefal Buchel Formation at
the northern flank of the Bergisch Gladbach-
Paffrath Syncline. From the abandoned quarry
"Im Grubenfeld", skeletal elements of holothuroids,
phiocistioids and crinoids are documented
from a bituminous marly shale horizon
in the middle Buchel Formation.
