Company Overview<br />

hundreds of customers around the world. RF-SMART, ICS’s brand of automated<br />
data collection (ADC) and RFID solutions for <strong>Oracle</strong>’s JD Edwards EnterpriseOne<br />
applications, increases inventory accuracy to 100 percent, enhances operational<br />
efficiencies by up to 15 percent, and extends the value of JD Edwards EnterpriseOne<br />
applications.<br />
Integration Overview<br />
• RF-SMART’s XMLCallObject interface uses the multithreading/load balancing<br />
features inherent in <strong>Oracle</strong>’s JD Edwards EnterpriseOne applications on the<br />
enterprise server. The result is higher transaction throughput and easier<br />
scalability.<br />
• Two-tiered architecture (RF-SMART server plus enterprise server) reduces<br />
complexity, increases reliability, scales easily, and allows RF hardware<br />
independence.<br />
• Event-driven, near-real-time data replication (by VisionSolutions’ Symbiator<br />
product) allows RF-SMART to validate local field-level data without having to<br />
burden the network with excessive ODBC traffic.<br />

Integration Methodology and Technology<br />
The RF-SMART data collection solution uses the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne<br />
XMLCallObject API to call native JD Edwards EnterpriseOne master business<br />
functions (MBFs). By leveraging unmodified JD Edwards EnterpriseOne MBFs, we<br />
ensure that RF-SMART transactions go through the same edits, logic, and error<br />
checking as those submitted from native JD Edwards EnterpriseOne interactive<br />
applications.<br />
RF-SMART performs field-level data validations against its local database that has<br />
been replicated from enterprise data via the Symbiator data replication tool.<br />
Symbiator (OEMed by ICS from Vision Solutions, Inc.) allows data to be filtered<br />
and replicated such that only records and fields that are relevant to RF-SMART are<br />
replicated. This simple editing allows most errors to be caught before they are<br />
submitted for processing on the enterprise server, which both reduces unnecessary<br />
network traffic and allows the RF-SMART user to correct his or her mistake<br />
immediately.<br />
