(2) While not required, the Contractor may flow down to sub<strong>contract</strong>s for<br />
commercial items a minimal number of additional <strong>clauses</strong> necessary to satisfy<br />
its <strong>contract</strong>ual obligations.<br />
(d)<br />
The Contractor shall include the terms of this clause, including this paragraph (d),<br />
in sub<strong>contract</strong>s awarded under this <strong>contract</strong>.<br />
I.90 52.247-1 COMMERCIAL BILL OF LADING NOTATIONS. (FEB 2006)<br />
When the Contracting Officer authorizes supplies to be shipped on a commercial bill of<br />
lading and the Contractor will be reimbursed these transportation costs as direct<br />
allowable costs, the Contractor shall ensure before shipment is made that the commercial<br />
shipping documents are annotated with either of the following notations, as appropriate:<br />
(a)<br />
If the Government is shown as the consignor or the consignee, the annotation shall<br />
be:<br />
Transportation is for the U.S. De<strong>part</strong>ment of Energy and the actual total<br />
transportation charges paid to the carrier(s) by the consignor or consignee are<br />
assignable to, and shall be reimbursed by, the Government.<br />
(b)<br />
If the Government is not shown as the consignor or the consignee, the annotation<br />
shall be:<br />
Transportation is for the U.S. De<strong>part</strong>ment of Energy and the actual total<br />
transportation charges paid to the carrier(s) by the consignor or consignee shall be<br />
reimbursed by the Government, pursuant to cost-reimbursement Contract No. DE-<br />
AC02-98CH10886. This may be confirmed by contacting the U.S. De<strong>part</strong>ment of<br />

(a)<br />
Definitions. As used in this clause--<br />
“International air transportation” means transportation by air between a place in the<br />
United States and a place outside the United States or between two places both of<br />
which are outside the United States.<br />
“United States” means the 50 States, the District of Columbia, and outlying areas.<br />
“U.S.-flag air carrier” means an air carrier holding a certificate under 49 U.S.C.<br />
Chapter 411.<br />
