Operative Technique Use the graduated markings on the measuring tool (Ref XDI007002) to assess which stem to select. Note: The prosthesis is modular. The distal stem is neither dependent on the predetermined size using the checking tool, nor on the proximal stem implant that was originally identified as being suitable. Fitting the trial stem Fitting the proximal trial stem Fit the stem into the seat then proceed with impaction using the proximal impactor (Ref XIM007001). 14
Operative Technique Fitting the distal trial stem Impaction is performed using the distal impactor (Ref XIM007002). Palmar proximal resection using the cutting guide The guide (Ref XVIPR001001) is positioned to rest against the dorsal stop of the proximal trial stem. The pin of the guide is inserted into the housing of the trial stem. Use an oscillating saw to complete the palmar resection Note: The use of a narrow saw is recommended so as to minimise the risk of damage to the lateral ligaments. Dorsal cortex removal Take care to free the dorsal cortex of P1 (1), using a saw or a gouge forceps, so as to eliminate residual bone debris. If this is necessary, use the saw to remove final bone debris from the palmar resection (2). Note: The presence of bone debris at the periphery of the stem may impair the impactaction of the final surface and its retention on the stem. 15
