OUCOM DEPARTMENT OF FAMILY MEDICINE 2010-2011 ANNUAL REPORT Welcome from the Chair Welcome to the DFM’s 2010-2011 Annual Report. This report summarizes our activities from July 1, 2010, through June 30, 2011. During this last year, the department has increased its leadership positions within the curriculum. The Department and the ARHI Diabetes Center continue to maintain the Primary Care Fellowship in Diabetology. Jay Shubrook, DO, Associate Professor in DFM, is the current Director of the program. The Department has instituted a structure to reward faculty for publication of peer reviewed articles and externally funded grant submissions. Clinical research continues to increase pace and health services research is expanding with cooperation with the Office of Research and the Appalachian Rural Health Institute. We not only provide care now, but train others to provide care for years into the future. Throughout the year, faculty demonstrated every day how they support community service obligations with committee assignments within local, State, National and International organizations. We maintain an active website that includes, faculty curriculum vitas, as well as information on the Primary Care and OMM Associates The Department continues to actively recruit individuals that share our mission of teaching, research, and service.
