All the ingredients shall be measured volumetrically. The concrete mix shall have 28 days
cube compressive strength of the mix on 150 mm cubes. 20 N/mm 2 .
Cement used for the work shall be or ordinary Portland cement confirming to IS:269/ IS :
1269, which permitted by Engineer in charge. If time gap between the date of
manufacture and date of the use is more that 3 months, the cement shall be retested
before use & shall be rejected if it fails to confirm to any of the requirements.
Fine agg. shall consist of natural sand, It shall be of siliceous materials sharp hard,
strong, and durable & shall be free from adherent/nonadherent coatings clay dust alkali
organic material, deleterious matter lumps etc. If any objectionable foreign matter found
in the natural sand it shall be used after washing to the satisfaction of Engineer in
charge.
Coarse agg. Shall be machine crushed stone of black trap or equivalent & should be hard
strong, dense, durable clean, free from skin & coating likely to prevent proper adhesion
of mortar and cubical in shape, If agg. is covered with dust it shall be washed with water
to make it clean.
W ater used for mixing in concrete & curing shall be potable water.
Concrete shall be mixed in a mechanical mixer in good conditions and mixing shall be
continued till materials are uniformly distributed and a uniform color of the entire mass is
obtained. In no case shall be mixing be done for less than 2 minutes after all ingredients
have been put into the mixer. In hand mixing quantity of cement shall be increased by
10%. Hand mixing is allowed only in exceptional cases and with the permission of
engineer in charge.
The contractor has to make arrangement for the steel moulds to prepare precast cement
concrete blocks as per the design specified by the corporation and nothing extra shall be
paid for it. The dimensions of the moulds shall be fixed so as to get the blocks of the
required finish, dimensions and shape specified by the corporation and satisfaction to the
engineer in charge of work.
The surface of the moulds shall be cleaned and oiled before pouring concrete into moulds
to get smooth finished and all the corner of shaper edge as per design.
Contractor shall have to make arrangements for particular type of vibrator to get better
consolidation and dense concrete. Nothing extra shall be paid for the same.
Contractor shall have to make arrangement of curing of the precast Cement Concrete
blocks and top slabs by ponding for at least 14 days after one day of exposure to air. At
the same time the contractor shall have to allow blocks and slabs dried in air for at least
two days.
The contractor has to make arrangement to cart the precast cement concrete traffic
central verge blocks and top slabs at the site of work. Any block found being damaged
during transportation shall not be accepted and such rejected blocks should not be
allowed to use in the work.
The measurement shall be paid on running meter basis.
