• As opportunities occur, designate employees strategically located for<br />
dual-utilization.<br />
Status<br />
• Initial planning between section chiefs underway.<br />
• A pilot program was implemented to utilize selected Marine Police <strong>of</strong>ficers<br />
during their <strong>of</strong>f season as Wildlife <strong>and</strong> Freshwater Fisheries <strong>of</strong>ficers but<br />
did not prove to be practical.<br />
• APOST certified wildlife biologists have been added to duty availability list.<br />
• Initiated pilot program <strong>of</strong> dual responsibility (Wildlife/Law Enforcement)<br />
where employee will be full-time biologist for a portion <strong>of</strong> the year <strong>and</strong> fulltime<br />
law enforcement the remainder.<br />
• On November 30 <strong>and</strong> December 1, 2010, two wildlife biologists were hired<br />
for the dual responsibility (Wildlife/Law Enforcement) pilot program.<br />
• Two additional employees were hired in dual responsibility positions<br />
(Wildlife/Law Enforcement) during the fall <strong>and</strong> early winter <strong>of</strong> 2011. These<br />
“Shared” positions are an effort to better utilize our financial resources<br />
<strong>and</strong> meet the management needs <strong>of</strong> <strong>Alabama</strong> wildlife resources. These<br />
positions will be further evaluated <strong>and</strong> used accordingly.<br />
