The G-1000 family
Our popular G-1000® fabric comes in five variations, Original,
Silent, Lite, Eco and Heavy Duty. All of them share the benefits of
G-1000®, but each has its own special properties.
Luhkka
Dry, warm, comfortable – the Sami people have always known how to
dress in cold climate. The Luhkka (which translates as “bad weather
collar”) was the perfect garment when skiing with reindeers. Even
today it is worn on top of other winter garments providing extra
warmth, shelter and freedom of movement.
Inspired by the Luhkka, we created Luhkka in hardwearing g-1000.
The synthetic padding gives extra warmth and the fixed adjustable
hood keeps rain and snow at bay. Use it for extra heat on top of your
winter jacket, or alone – as a “bad weather collar” – when heading out
for a walk in the woods.

THE DURABLE ORIGINAL
g-1000® Original is the mother of all comfortable nature experiences.
Originally a tent sheet that was too heavy for a lightweight
tent. Tested under conditions including everything from Arctic
and sub-Arctic expeditions to coffee breaks on sharp stones in forest
glades. Today, quite possibly one of the world's most adaptable
and durable fabrics.
QUIET AND SOFT
g-1000® Silent, a brushed version of g-1000® Original, is a soft,
silent fabric. The brushed surface weakens the fabric slightly, but in
exchange you get a totally silent fabric that will be useful for game
preservation or as clothes that will be worn just as frequently at
work as in nature.

LIGHTWEIGHT AND COOL
g-1000® Lite weighs less and is cooler than g-1000® Original,
which means it is perfect as a lightweight trekking garment or
travel clothes that need to withstand tough use. G-1000® Lite
is made from Ripstop, which means that it still has very high
durability despite its relatively low weight.
AN EVEN GREENER CHOICE
All g-1000® weaves guarantees that you will not need to buy a
new product in a long, long time, making all g-1000® products a
good environmental choice. However, with g-1000® Eco, including
both organic cotton and recycled polyester, we have taken one
step further when it comes to environmental responsibility.

FOR EXTREME DEMANDS
With the same weave as our g-1000® Original but more robust, g-1000® Heavy Duty provides
superior durability and has an even longer lifetime. Great for backpacks and bags, as well as for reinforcements
on garments or for garments with extreme durability requirements. As with all members
of the g-1000® family, g-1000® Heavy Duty is a waxed blend of 65% polyester and 35% cotton.
Use Greenland Wax to enhance the water shedding function and prolong lifetime even further.
