RFID-transponders on one hand need energy to operate their microchip,
on the other hand for sending data to the scanner. A distinction is made
between three different types of RFID-transponder
§ Passive RFID-transponder use the energy of a field that is generated by the
reader’s antenna for operating the microchip and sending the data.
§ Semi-active RFID-transponder have an internal battery for operating the microchip.
To send the data they use the energy of the reader’s antenna field.
§ Active RFID-transponder have their own internal battery which they use for both
purposes.
