Dr Kelvin <strong>Kemm</strong><br />

1. Current:<br />

Dr Kelvin <strong>Kemm</strong> currently runs his own business strategy consultancy practice:<br />

Stratek, based in Pretoria. He also runs training courses, and develops specialist<br />

communications material for companies.<br />

He is in demand as a public speaker, and regularly speaks at conferences and<br />

dinners as invited guest speaker. He regularly appears on radio, TV and in the<br />

printed media taking stands on various strategy and technology policy issues.<br />

2. Academic<br />

Attended school at Northwood in Durban where he was a prefect and student<br />

officer in the cadet Battalion.<br />

Attended Natal University in Durban where he was Vice Chairman of the Science<br />

Students Council. In this role he organised the Science Ball, High School Science<br />

Open Day, and became involved in various other organisational functions.<br />

MSc (Nuclear Physics) 1973<br />

PhD (Nuclear Physics) 1976<br />

PhD gained at the age of 26.<br />

PhD included extensive work in metallurgical factors associated with nuclear<br />

reactors.<br />

In 2000 an extensive entry concerning Dr <strong>Kemm</strong> was entered into Who’s Who in<br />

the World. In 2001 he was entered into Who’s Who in the World of Science and<br />

Technology. In 2002 he was listed in a book: 2000 Outstanding Scientists in the<br />

World published in Cambridge, UK.<br />

In 2003 awarded the Lifetime Achiever’s Award by the NSTF (National Science<br />

and Technology Forum).<br />

In 2004 entered into Who’s Who in South Africa

Dr <strong>Kemm</strong> has appeared on TV more than 100 times, and has carried out many<br />

radio interviews, and has been featured in print media news items and feature<br />

articles.<br />

Included is the design, scriptwriting and development of the following TV series:<br />

• Curiosity Feeds the Cat (13 week series)<br />

• Impact (18 months, 30 minutes per week on SA technology achievements)<br />

• The Environment and Packaging (13 week series)<br />

• Halley’s Comet (6 part series with Sir Patrick Moore as co-presenter)<br />

• Weekly slot on “Prospects,” a magazine programme on SABC1.
