World Heritage Designation Promotion and education strategy Improved environmental quality Assemble a skilled team Establish new Management Plan Identify respected leader and steering group Liaise with international parks which are World Heritage Sites - Vienna Schloss Schönbrunn - Madrid Parque del Retiro. To achieve designation as World Heritage Park. Education Centre - University modules, - Transition Year modules, - Primary School (Education Officer), (reuse of existing buildings). Information Depots - what the Park has to offer and where you can and shouldn’t go. - With education. Number plate recognition 24/7. Staff will follow plan. Master Action Plan. Identify what’s in the Park (elements/areas). Identify what has to be done. Identify key personnel to deal with each area. Phase reduction of commuter traffic. Employ specialised staff in the Park. Long term budget 2 yrs? 5 yrs? 10 yrs? 50 yrs? Establish leadership (chain of command). Establish Park forum - Residents association - Local Authorities - Agencies - OPW. World Heritage Site within limited time period. Greater statutory protection/ legislation, while due, does not exist for parks/gardens at present. International heritage conference in Dublin Castle. Steering group (small) with reps from main group - review needs, - report. Liaise with road authorities regarding traffic use within and outside the Park. Leadership to determine legislative changes. Marketing plan. Identify who has responsibilty for plan - funding resources - time restrictions on expenditure. Ireland as a signatory to international treaties and conventions has a wider responsibility to the protection and duty of care to The Phoenix Park as a cultural and historic landscape.
