J.R. Clancy Gets Patent for PowerLift Feature
A feature in the design of J. R. Clancy’s PowerLift automated
hoist has been issued U. S. Patent 7,766,308. Within
the hoist, the use of a sliding drum on a fixed shaft creates
a zero fleet angle as the lift lines leave the drum. The more
efficient functioning of the drum and shaft reduces both size
and maintenance requirements. While the sliding drum is a
new development, zero fleet angle hoists are not new. The
company says it began building and marketing zero fleet
angle hoists in the 1960s using the Izenour hoist design.

Lex Products Slim Dimmer Plus
Lex Products has added DMX512 support to its Slim Dimmer
line of compact 1.8kW dimmers in the form of the Slim
Dimmer Plus. Designed specifically for television and film
location work, as well as theatrical and event dimming, the
extruded aluminum housing is designed to withstand the
production and rental environment. With DMX capabilities,
the Slim Dimmer Plus can also be used as a part of a larger
dimming system and also operate in a standalone mode with
local control through a linear fader on its face. It can also complement any full lighting package, providing
additional dimmer capability.

Martin Professional M-PC Lighting Controllers
Martin Professional has launched two new PC-based
controllers; M-PC Basic, with eight universes of output; and
M-PC Pro, with 64 universes of output. M-PC Pro replaces the
Maxxyz PC with the same features plus new features from the
Martin M1 console. M-PC Pro outputs 64 DMX universes over
ArtNet or with the Martin USB Duo DMX. M-PC Basic offers
the same features as the M-PC Pro with a maximum of eight
DMX universes. Both come with MSD5 (Martin ShowDesigner)
MC Edition 3D Visualizer and one Martin USB Duo DMX.

Mega Systems Disco V2.5
Mega-Lite announced the release of version 2.5 for Disco,
a lighting controller designed for use in nightclubs and bars.
The new version now includes a webserver that allows users
to remotely control their light show using any web-enabled
device, such as the iPad, Droid phones, iPhone, or any PC or
Mac. Other improvements include better LED matrix support
and various minor changes. A demo version Disco can be
downloaded from the company’s website.

Stage Technologies Sculptor Animation Toolkit
Sculptor Animation Toolkit from Stage Technologies is
an add-on for Autodesk 3ds Max, a software package commonly
used to animate films, movies and games. It combines
Stage Technologies’ automation control system with the 3D
animation environment to provide control of many hundreds
of automated axes and scenic elements such as revolves, hydraulically-driven,
custom-built machinery, lifts, stage trucks
and rotating winch trolleys. The toolkit is integrated into the
main toolbar of 3ds Max and can be used to identify axes in
a scene as one of four different types: linear axes, rotational
axes, trolley axes and truck axes.

Times Square Lighting Gobo80L
With a single white 80-watt LED, the Gobo80L from Times
Square Lighting will project up to 50 feet and it can manually
zoom and focus between 19º and 35º. It has an IP rating of 65.
Under normal conditions, the LED light source is projected to
last 100,000 hours; it produces no UV or IR, illuminates virtually
instantly (100 ns). It is also capable of gobo rotation at four different
speeds. On-board DIP switches are available for stand
alone operation, or it can run on DMX 512 controller. Optional
USB and Ethernet control interfaces are available.
