An Old Man, accompanied by a Young Boy (his teenaged son), returns to <strong>the</strong> ru<strong>in</strong>s <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> house where,<br />
long ago, <strong>the</strong> Old Man had killed his fa<strong>the</strong>r. While <strong>the</strong> Old Man is re-liv<strong>in</strong>g events with <strong>the</strong> ghosts <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
past, <strong>the</strong> son tries to run <strong>of</strong>f with <strong>the</strong> Old Man’s money. The two quarrel, and when <strong>the</strong> Boy threatens <strong>the</strong><br />
Old Man, <strong>the</strong> Old Man kills him <strong>in</strong> an attempt to stop <strong>the</strong> cycle <strong>of</strong> patricide. But <strong>the</strong> ghosts are not laid to<br />
rest, and <strong>the</strong> Old Man is doomed to live with <strong>the</strong> burden <strong>of</strong> his actions.<br />

Estelle meets a friend <strong>in</strong> a bar after shopp<strong>in</strong>g, and as she dr<strong>in</strong>ks, chatters her way <strong>in</strong>to reveal<strong>in</strong>g a darker<br />
side <strong>of</strong> her character. Lisa, <strong>the</strong> friend, rema<strong>in</strong>s silent and lets her run on without comment, but her<br />
enigmatic smile at <strong>the</strong> end <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> opera perhaps reveals more than words ever could.<br />
