Guiding Principles and Goals<br />

<strong>2011</strong>-2014<br />

1. We expect all students to learn from a balanced academic core<br />

curriculum and reach their full potential.<br />

A. All students will demonstrate continued and improved academic achievement in core<br />

content standards.<br />

B. Educational opportunities will be provided equitably to students across the district.<br />

C. Each student will be challenged to meet his/her individual potential regardless of<br />

school or classroom.<br />

D. Students will use available technologies as a source of information and a means of<br />

communication to support their academic progress, and learning.<br />

E. Students will have the opportunity to enrich their educational experience through their<br />

participation in the arts.<br />

2. We are committed to providing quality educational programs in a safe,<br />

orderly environment.<br />

A. Students will demonstrate increased levels of appropriate and socially acceptable<br />

behavior and will demonstrate respect and understanding for others.<br />

B. The district will maintain a long-term strategic facilities plan that will provide for<br />

necessary renovations to existing schools and construction of facilities as required.<br />

C. Each school campus will be clean, well maintained, and secure.<br />

3. We encourage parents to be knowledgeable about and participate in<br />

their child’s educational program.<br />

A. Parents will be valued partners and participate in their child’s educational program.<br />

B. Staff will communicate effectively with parents regarding student expectations and<br />

performance.<br />

C. Staff will respond to parent concerns and requests in a thorough, timely, and<br />

courteous manner.<br />

4. We expect all employees to be responsible for providing or supporting<br />

quality, nurturing educational experiences for all students.<br />

A. A qualified and well-trained staff will provide an effective, supportive, and caring<br />

learning environment for students.<br />

B. Staff will work effectively with a diverse student population.<br />

C. Teachers will use available technologies to enhance learning and promote student<br />

engagement.<br />

5. We are committed to involving stakeholders in the decision-making<br />

process.<br />

A. All representative opinions will be actively sought, heard, and considered in the<br />

decision-making process.<br />

B. The district will communicate effectively with the community regarding schools,<br />

programs, activities, and student achievement.<br />

6. We effectively manage resources in order to achieve the district’s<br />

mission.<br />

The staff will ensure optimal use of resources to foster a climate of high achievement,<br />

efficiency, and excellence in delivering services to all stakeholders.
