Guiding Principles and Goals
2011-2014
1. We expect all students to learn from a balanced academic core
curriculum and reach their full potential.
A. All students will demonstrate continued and improved academic achievement in core
content standards.
B. Educational opportunities will be provided equitably to students across the district.
C. Each student will be challenged to meet his/her individual potential regardless of
school or classroom.
D. Students will use available technologies as a source of information and a means of
communication to support their academic progress, and learning.
E. Students will have the opportunity to enrich their educational experience through their
participation in the arts.
2. We are committed to providing quality educational programs in a safe,
orderly environment.
A. Students will demonstrate increased levels of appropriate and socially acceptable
behavior and will demonstrate respect and understanding for others.
B. The district will maintain a long-term strategic facilities plan that will provide for
necessary renovations to existing schools and construction of facilities as required.
C. Each school campus will be clean, well maintained, and secure.
3. We encourage parents to be knowledgeable about and participate in
their child’s educational program.
A. Parents will be valued partners and participate in their child’s educational program.
B. Staff will communicate effectively with parents regarding student expectations and
performance.
C. Staff will respond to parent concerns and requests in a thorough, timely, and
courteous manner.
4. We expect all employees to be responsible for providing or supporting
quality, nurturing educational experiences for all students.
A. A qualified and well-trained staff will provide an effective, supportive, and caring
learning environment for students.
B. Staff will work effectively with a diverse student population.
C. Teachers will use available technologies to enhance learning and promote student
engagement.
5. We are committed to involving stakeholders in the decision-making
process.
A. All representative opinions will be actively sought, heard, and considered in the
decision-making process.
B. The district will communicate effectively with the community regarding schools,
programs, activities, and student achievement.
6. We effectively manage resources in order to achieve the district’s
mission.
The staff will ensure optimal use of resources to foster a climate of high achievement,
efficiency, and excellence in delivering services to all stakeholders.
