National Marketing and Fundraising continued The National Marketing and Fundraising division has been successful in building partnerships with community groups and service clubs resulting in joint activities that generate funds for both organisations. These events have been highly successful for all parties involved. During the year the marketing division developed a project to reconnect to donors who had stopped supporting DRUG ARM, or lapsed in their membership, which has proved to be a most successful way to bring those supporters back as active donors once again. A major component of income comes from joint tele-fundraising partnerships with other charitable organisations. These events have been circus spectaculars, movie days, and zoo days, where we ask the corporate community to sponsor tickets for disadvantaged or ill children and their families in Queensland, New South Wales and South Australia. Our charity partners, including Mater Children’s Hospital, Spastic Centres and Variety, have been pleased with the outcomes and fi nancial support they have received, and feedback from attendees has been extremely positive. Special Event Fundraising Over the past year special events have raised much needed funds, over $81,000, and greatly increased the awareness of DRUG ARM within the community. Events included: The Combined Brisbane Rotary Clubs Art Spectacular and the Rotary Club of Hamilton Charity Golf Day, which provided support for MOSHPIT; the Rotary Club of Toowong Fashion Parade, the Art with a Heart art show in Toowoomba, the Rotary Club of Stanthorpe James Morrison Concert, and the Ipswich Book Affair supporting DRUG ARM outreach work in those areas. The National Marketing and Fundraising division also provides extensive assistance to States by helping to coordinate the opening of offi ces or launch of new programs. In 2005-06 these included: • MOSHPIT e-enablement launch • ROSS program launch • Gold Coast Street Outreach Service launch, sponsored by the Bank of Queensland • Stanthorpe Offi ce opening • Warwick Offi ce opening Corporate Support A special recognition award for key supporters was introduced in 2005. The Corporate Champions award recognises the value of the support corporate organisations provide to DRUG ARM. There are 5 recognition levels: Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze and Champion Supporter. We also provide a special recognition to companies who have supported us as without the ongoing fi nancial and in-kind donations we receive we would not be able to offer the range of services that are currently available. Presentations to community and service clubs as well as speaking at various DRUG ARM regional and community meetings, are a major part of this support. The National Manager travels regularly to each State to provide assistance with marketing and fundraising strategies, and to promote the fundraising needs in the regions. Media In 2005-06 a total of 45 recorded media releases, media alerts or community announcements were sent to local and regional outlets from the National Offi ce. These were in regards to special events, calls for volunteers, to notify the public of upcoming volunteer training dates, in response to a topical issue, or for a special awareness campaign such as Drug Action Week or pre-Christmas celebration tips. We fi elded over 85 requests from media for information and had 15 articles referring to DRUG ARM published in mainstream media in Queensland. In South Australia 4 radio interviews were aired, 20 articles appeared in the local Messenger Newspapers and 2 television interviews with Channel 7 went to air.
