Page 6 • Lake Forester •November • 2011 LFPOA NEWS Board Stated Meeting Highlights ~ October 20, 2011 ~ As always, complete minutes and financials can be reviewed by property members in their entirety at the LFPOA Office or on the website at www.lakeforestpoa.com in the Members Section. The meeting was called to order. Those present were Mary Ann Hampton, Travis Stone, Ed Kirby, Richard Kersey, Marie Bidney. Those absent were Tony Dees, Ray Sturch, Bill Menefee. General Manager Rob Wright was present. As no minutes were in the Board's folders, they were not approved. By Laws Committee had no report. Travis reported for Communications that at a future date, an informative meeting will be planned for realtors about the improvements that have been done at Lake Forest. Marie reported about the newsletter and events that were happening at the Yacht Club for the month of November. Richard Kersey gave an overview of the financial report and a "user-friendly" report is being developed which will be present on the website. The GM gave a report on various items and announced a new F&B Director has been hired. He mentioned that Tennis will have a youth event on November 5 and Tennis has now 63 members. New Golf Memberships are up to 12 with a goal of 15 for the year. No report for Community and Safety. Ed Kirby for Buildings and Grounds said there were no new projects for the last month. Richard Kersey reported on Architectural and the biggest complaint is lot appearance. On Golf, Rob reported that the MGA tournament was successful. Lake 9 will open in November and they had a good turnout for the Superintendent's Tournament. As a result of that, new logo flags and new cups will be installed. Under Old Business, Ed Kirby said that new estimates of cost for the damaged bulkhead at the Yacht Club will be sought. Under new business, Joe Hall has resigned from the stables. Tonya Halterman has requested to take over managing the stables. A motion was made to establish a lease agreement with Ms. Halterman. This was seconded and passed. Being no further business, the meeting was adjourned. Architectural Report ~ By Stacy Johnston ~ Covenant Compliance Reminders Burning of trash, leaves, etc. is not allowed in Lake Forest. Please report any unauthorized burning to the Lake Forest Architectural Department or the Daphne Fire Department. Political signs cannot be displayed earlier than 60 days prior to the election and should be removed within 24 hours of the election. You may have up to 3 political signs in your yard, but not more than 1 sign per candidate or issue. The size of the sign cannot exceed 5 square feet. The Architectural Department will be focusing over the next 30 days on inspecting the subdivision for yards that are not being maintained according to the Architectural Guidelines. The guidelines state that your lawn should be maintained on a regular basis – cut your grass, control weeds, keep bushes and hedges trimmed, and keep flowerbeds and natural areas mulched. Native areas should be cutback as needed and dead trees cut down. Fallen tree debris (pine cones, leaves, etc.) should be regularly removed from yard. Front yards with no grass need to be relandscaped. Your driveway, walkways, and the street in front of your home should be kept edged and cleaned. Removal of significant trees must be approved in advance by the City of Daphne. Mailbox should be kept clean and repaired as necessary. southpoint bank
Page 7 • Lake Forester • November • 2011 LIVING IN LAKE FOREST Purses, Purses, Purses ~ Submitted by Marty Boor ~ Sadie Hawkins Two Man Scramble Lunch & Prizes Wednesday, November 2 Hosted by the LGA 8:30 a.m. $20 pp The Lake Forest Community Women's Club completed their program of collecting "gently used" purses. AT the October 20th meeting over 175 purses of various shapes and sizes, colors and styles, fabrics, and leathers were then donated tot he Junior League of Mobile for placement in their re-sale shop in Mobile. All L-R Officers of the JLM Maria Williams, Nonie Taul, and Tracie Ray accept the purse donation from President Connie Mahoney. profits will go to local charities in Mobile and Baldwin counties. Accepting the purses for the JLM were our guests Nonie Taul, Tracie Ray, and Maria Williams, officers in JLM. They explained their organization's aims and purposes, ongoing programs, and coming events. This all-volunteer group has many working charities bringing benefits to women and children in both counties. Their presentation gave many examples of how and where any "purse" funds could be used. Plans for the "market Place Auction and Bake Sale" (November 22, 2011) were announced by Cookie White.
