FIRE DRILLS<br />
During a fire alarm, everyone must exit the building. Once outside, everyone is to wait for an "All Clear" bell or an<br />
announcement that an Emergency Fire Drill is in effect. If an Emergency Fire Drill is announced, everyone must leave the<br />
building and will then be informed to report to their specified areas (Auditorium or Gym).<br />
FLAG SALUTE<br />
New Jersey law requires all persons to show respect for the flag of the United States of America.<br />
Gambling (cards and dice throwing) is prohibited at <strong>School</strong>.<br />
GAMBLING<br />
GRADING POLICY FOR RIVER DELL HIGH SCHOOL<br />
The passing grade for all subjects is 65. The final grade is computed by doubling each marking period, adding the final<br />
exam, and dividing by 9. If there are no exams, the sum is divided by 8. In half year courses, the sum is divided by 4.<br />
For the first two marking periods of a year long course and for the first marking period of a semester course, grades entered<br />
on the report card cannot be lower than 40. All subsequent grades may be as low as 0.<br />
MINIMUM GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS<br />
FOR GRADES 9 - 12<br />
In order to be graduated from <strong>River</strong> <strong>Dell</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> and receive a state-endorsed board of education diploma, a pupil must:<br />
A. Pass all <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> Proficiency Assessments (HSPA)<br />
B. Complete 120 credits that include the following:<br />
1. Four years of English<br />
2. Three years of social studies<br />
3. Three years of science<br />
4. Three years of mathematics<br />
5. Two years of foreign language<br />
6. Four years of physical education/health/driver education<br />
7. Ten credits of visual/performing arts and practical arts requirement can be met through all art courses, all technology<br />
courses, all business courses, drama/public speaking, or TV Media. Effective with the Class of 2008, five credits of<br />
visual/performing arts and five credits in career education and consumer, family, and life skills, or vocationaltechnical<br />
education and five units of computer education.<br />
8. One-half credit year of Career Exploration and Development which will be infused into a variety of subject areas.<br />
A student must carry a class hall pass.<br />
