A how-to guide for referencing online sources in student<br />

bibliographies<br />

Just as you need to cite the books and periodicals you use to support your research, so too must you cite the online<br />

sources of information. The following has been adapted from Classroom Connect and Purdue’s Online Writing Lab<br />

(OWL).<br />

As follows is a revised method for citing Internet and online resources as accessed though your Internet browser. Also<br />

included is new information specifying how to cite the graphics, sounds, and video clips you retrieve from the Internet for<br />

use in your multimedia presentations.<br />

Email<br />

Structure<br />

Author. “Title or subject of message”. Email to person’s name. Date of message.<br />

Example<br />

Kunka, Andrew. “Re: Modernist Literature.” Email to Jane Doe. 15 Nov. 2006.<br />

World Wide Web/Internet<br />

Article on a Web Site<br />

Structure<br />

Author(s). Title of page. Name of web site. Date of posting/revision. Name of institution/organization affiliated<br />
