Attracting, retaining and<br />

developing female c<strong>on</strong>sultants<br />

Our intenti<strong>on</strong> is to get women to view our professi<strong>on</strong> as positively as men do. Our<br />

experience has been that mixed c<strong>on</strong>sulting teams work <strong>the</strong> best and we aim to have<br />

more women at all functi<strong>on</strong>al levels. To boost <strong>the</strong> number of female c<strong>on</strong>sultants at<br />

<strong>Roland</strong> <strong>Berger</strong> Strategy C<strong>on</strong>sultants, we encourage interacti<strong>on</strong> and networking am<strong>on</strong>g<br />

female colleagues. Thus, we assign each newcomer an internal coach – an experienced<br />

colleague who knows what she's talking about. These mentorships are designed to better<br />

support female c<strong>on</strong>sultants manage <strong>the</strong> day-to-day challenges.<br />

Fostering diversity<br />

at <strong>Roland</strong> <strong>Berger</strong><br />

We are c<strong>on</strong>vinced that businesses stand to<br />

profit from a diverse work<strong>for</strong>ce. For <strong>Roland</strong> <strong>Berger</strong><br />

Strategy C<strong>on</strong>sultants, diversity has always been an<br />

integral part of our values and our success. To<br />

fur<strong>the</strong>r emphasize our dedicati<strong>on</strong> to promoting<br />

employee diversity, <strong>Roland</strong> <strong>Berger</strong> was am<strong>on</strong>g <strong>the</strong><br />

first signatories of <strong>the</strong> German diversity declarati<strong>on</strong><br />

"Charta der Vielfalt" in 2007, launched by BP<br />

Europa SE, Deutsche Bank and Deutsche Telekom,<br />

under <strong>the</strong> patr<strong>on</strong>age of German chancellor Angela<br />

Merkel. Since <strong>the</strong>n, more than 1300 signatories<br />

from private companies and public instituti<strong>on</strong>s<br />

have acknowledged <strong>the</strong> value of diversity and<br />

declared <strong>the</strong>ir intenti<strong>on</strong> to create a working<br />

envir<strong>on</strong>ment that is free of prejudice.<br />

Finding a good work-life balance<br />

Harm<strong>on</strong>izing career and family in <strong>the</strong> c<strong>on</strong>sulting world is not always easy. That is why<br />

we foster a family-friendly corporate culture that takes family needs into account. The<br />

company works to find soluti<strong>on</strong>s that satisfy men and women alike – whe<strong>the</strong>r it's a<br />

temporary reducti<strong>on</strong> in working hours or <strong>the</strong> opti<strong>on</strong> to work from home when a child is ill.<br />

Fur<strong>the</strong>rmore, we offer our employees support in arranging childcare.<br />

Since 2005, <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> third time in a row, we successfully passed <strong>the</strong> n<strong>on</strong>profit Hertie<br />

Foundati<strong>on</strong>'s "berufundfamilie" audit® – a manage ment tool designed to promote a<br />

family-friendly HR policy.<br />
