The Ice Arena serves as a focal point of recreational
ice skating, intercollegiate hockey competition,
curling bonspiels and physical education activities
on campus.
Construction of the Ice Arena began in the spring
opened in February 1967. In 1989, additional
permanent seating in the north-end of the facility
at a cost of $650,000 was added. Seating capacity
is listed at approximately 4,700 and overall capacity
is 5,000. A new Multi-Purpose ice was added during
the 2010 renovation in addition to improving locker
rooms, mechanical areas, the roofing system and
flooring. Additional renovations were made in
2011 including new lighting over the Main Ice, new
concession stands and a new sound system.
The Sport Clubs Program is designed to assist
and develop the interests and skills of team
members in specific sports.
Sport Clubs present a unique learning
opportunity for those students who choose to
form, lead and expand their clubs. Students elect
their own officers, draft their own constitutions,
determine practice days and times, schedule
facility space, set up playing schedules with
other teams and locate and pay officials for home
contests.
Eligibility: Membership in sport clubs
is open to currently enrolled undergraduate
students carrying a minimum of 10 credits,
or graduate/ non-traditional students with 6
credits. Every club in good standing needs
at least 10 active student members and a
faculty/staff advisor. All sport clubs must also
register with the Office of Campus Activities
and complete required paperwork with the
Department of Recreation and Wellness for
individual and club purposes.
Cost: Individual cost varies from club to club
depending on funding from the Office of
Campus Activities, donations and fundraising.
Registration: Students interested in
registering new clubs should make an
appointment with the Intramural/Sport Club/
Perry Field House Assistant Director. Factors
in considering new requests involve risk
management and liability issues, availability
of facilities, funding, regional competition
and a club’s potential overall contribution to
the University community. To register a new
club, contact Scott Sehmann at sehmans@
bgsu.edu.
Coaching Options: Teams can select
volunteer coaches for their club, based on
the individual’s knowledge and experience in
the desired sport. Coaches do not need to be
affiliated with BGSU but must be approved
by the IM/SC/PFH Assistant Director. In
order to promote student involvement in
administering each club, coaches are required
to sign paperwork specifying what their role is
with the club.

Intramurals
Perry Field House // Phone: 419.372.2464
Individual, dual, and team activities are available.
Men’s, Women’s, and Co-Rec teams are fielded
through sorority, fraternity, and independent
leagues. Many sports offer both competitive and
recreational leagues. Most Intramural sports are
played once a week, Monday through Thursday
between 5 PM and midnight. Regular season play
lasts approximately three to four weeks, with one
week of single elimination playoffs.
Eligibility: BGSU students, faculty and staff
are eligible. Restrictions apply for varsity/club
athletes in same IM sports. Players can participate
on one men’s/women’s and on one co-rec team per
sport.
Cost: $40 per player academic year fee or $25 a
semester includes participation in any/all offerings
and play on 2 teams (Male/Female and Co-Rec) per
sport.
Registration Process: IMLeagues.com is used
to register players. A link to IM Leagues and
instructions are provided on the RecWell website.
Captain’s Responsibilities: Captains serve as
the liaison between the IM Office and the team.
Captains must submit online entries on time, make
sure a team representative attends the captain’s
meeting, download a league schedule and check
their team’s status for playoffs. Failure to do
so may result in a team being dropped from the
league.
Employment: Recreation and Wellness hires
student managers, officials and scorekeepers for
many sports. Staff can even play and work for the
same sports.
Intramural Sports
Badminton
Come out and hone hand/eye coordination
skills and fitness level chasing the birdie
around the court with a friend, colleague,
or significant other.
3-Player Basketball
Leagues are set up by height and/or
experience, so grab some buddies for this
half-court favorite and polish up that jump
shot.
Basketball
Spend the holidays getting in shape for
full-court play that kicks off the spring
semester. Leagues fill up fast so enter
early!
Cornhole
Test bag tossing skills against friends and
classmates in the controlled, competitive
environment of the Perry Field House.
Dodgeball
Come pretend to be back in grade school
again, only there ARE rules.
7-Player Flag Football
Helmets and pads are replaced with flag
belts and swiveling hips in this fast-paced
and fun version of football, but without
the contact.
4-Player Flag Football
This scaled down version includes all of the
excitement and action of 7-Player Flag Football and
is played indoors.
Golf
Get out on the greens and enjoy the sun during a
relaxing 18 holes. Played on Sunday afternoons on
BGSU’s Forrest Creason Golf Course during the fall
semester.
Indoor Soccer
To avoid BG’s unpredictable weather, play is
conducted indoors at the Field House on a 50 yd.
x 40 yd field. The turf makes for a quick game, so
work on those foot skills.
Innertube Water Polo
No swimming skills are necessary, as players
navigate their inner tubes in Cooper Pool’s shallow
end, collecting passes and firing shots into the
goal.
Racquetball
Singles and doubles leagues allow players plenty
of opportunities to slug it out, sweat it up, and fine
tune their game.
3-Pitch Softball
3 Pitch Softball will be a 3 week league contested
on Sunday afternoons in the fall followed by a one
day single elimination tourney.
Team Handball
Americans might not know the game, but they love
the action in this sport that combines basketball
and soccer into one action-packed dribbling,
passing, and shooting game.
Tennis
Leagues include singles and doubles teams,
volleying their way past opponents, and getting
some terrific exercise at the same time.
Tennis Ball Tournament
This sport utilizes tennis balls, mini aluminum
bats, and fielding gloves to best replicate the game
of softball in an indoor atmosphere.
Ultimate Frisbee
Whether a beginner or seasoned pro, this game
tests endurance while putting those Frisbee
throwing and catching skills to the test. Teams
advance the disc by completing passes, and “score”
like in football.
Volleyball
Set, volley, spike, and dink towards an Intramural
championship as six-player teams battle for court
supremacy in this indoor sport.
4-Player Volleyball
Played without IM officials, this version of the
game is standard volleyball, but reduced players
means more court coverage.
Wallyball
Volleyball in a racquetball court. Passes, sets, and
spikes meet walls in this unique and challenging
4-person team game.
Whiffleball
This childhood classic is fun for college students
too. Home runs are rare, so making contact and
playing defense is a good strategy.

(SDL) provides training that includes a philosophical
orientation to the field of leadership and a series
educational experience and prepare individuals for
lifelong career and personal growth. Participants
develop an appreciation for engaged leadership
while inspiring active and healthy lifestyles.
sessions are grounded in theory. The two anchors
for theoretical support are Kouzes & Posner’s Five
Practices of Exemplary Leadership and the BGSU
Orientation and First Year Program’s Pillars for
Student Success. All facilitators are mindful of these
connections when creating programs.
Forrest Creason Golf Course Accessibility
Policy
Facilities, Drinking Water, Bathrooms and Course Policies
It is course policy at Forrest Creason Golf Course
to restrict motorized cart traffic to the cart paths
when weather or turn conditions warrant. This
policy ensures that we can continue to provide
the best possible playing conditions in the long
term. However, we also recognize the needs of
golfers with disabilities who may not be able to
enjoy the golf course with restrictions on golf
car use. We allow golf carts with special features
for golfers with disabilities to come onto the
course without charging a cart fee. These carts
are designed to go anywhere on the course.
The patron will, however, be responsible for
their greens fees. Upon payment of greens fees,
disabled patrons are entitled to receive two (2) free
bottles of drinking water for use on the course.
ADA accessible restrooms can be found on the
course located between holes 7 and 14. Please
understand that golf cart traffic of adapted golf
carts is likely to adversely affect turf and soil, as
well as playability. We appreciate your cooperation
in using care and exercising good judgment. The
staff at Forrest Creason Golf Course is available
to explain golf holes, dangerous areas, steep hills
or water hazards that should be avoided. A staff
member can be reached by using the intercom
system located outside the club house. A staff
member will meet the golfer outside to assist with
green fees as well as any other needs. Any use
of carts off the cart path is at your own risk, and
any problems or injuries resulting from such use
are the golfer’s responsibility. For safety reasons,
we strongly discourage the use of the golf carts
on severe slopes or through tall grass areas.
Natural, unmowed areas may be designated as
environmentally sensitive and also present a fire
hazard; please avoid these areas with the carts.
Consistent with the Americans with Disabilities
Act, course management reserves the right to
restrict all golf cart traffic in rare instances when
excessive heat, moisture stress, new turf, or other
weather-related or maintenance-related conditions
create extreme safety issues or would result in
any cart traffic causing excessive turf damage. If at
any time it is apparent that these conditions might
exist, we suggest calling ahead. Violation of this
policy may result in suspension of golf privileges.
We encourage your suggestions and ask for your
cooperation in helping us to provide you with a
quality golf experience. If you have any questions
or tips to make your experience at Forrest Creason
Golf Course more enjoyable, please contact the
golf course director Kurt Thomas at 419-372-2674
or kurttom@bgsu.edu.
Access Of Services
Golfers with disabilities are not required to enter
the Forrest Creason Golf Course clubhouse in
order to access the services available at the
building. This includes with regard to the payment
of greens fees and other related fees or to take
advantage of the food and golf items for sale in
the clubhouse. A staff member can be reached by
using the intercom system located outside the
clubhouse. A staff member will meet the golfer
outside to assist with green fees as well as any
other needs. Golfers with disabilities may also
identify themselves in advance to management of
the Forrest Creason Golf Course by contacting the
golf course director Kurt Thomas at 419-372-2674
or kurttom@bgsu.edu, so that their personal
service may be coordinated.
Golf Cart Reservations
