<strong>Recreation</strong> and Wellness hires over 300 students<br />
annually to work in jobs from entry-level to<br />
leadership positions offered in the four facility<br />
areas: <strong>Student</strong> <strong>Recreation</strong> <strong>Center</strong> (SRC), Perry<br />
Field House (PFH), the BGSU Ice Arena (IA),<br />
and the Forrest Creason Golf Course (GC).<br />
<strong>Recreation</strong> and Wellness provides students with<br />
unique practical leadership experiences in a fun,<br />
exciting and progressive environment. Upon<br />
graduation, students have gained skills to<br />
work in a variety of fields including campus<br />
recreation, professional sports team management,<br />
collegiate athletics, and health and wellness.<br />

Promotional opportunities are available with<br />
most student employee positions. <strong>Student</strong><br />
Supervisors are the highest level student<br />
employment positions. <strong>Student</strong> Supervisors have<br />
the opportunity to work directly with professional<br />
staff in gaining practical work experience as well<br />
as be in a leadership role with responsibilities to<br />
the other student employees and customers.<br />

How To Apply<br />
In order to apply, submit, email or fax resume<br />
with application based on desired location of<br />
employment. American Red Cross CPR and First<br />
Aid training is required of all <strong>Recreation</strong> and<br />
Wellness employees. This training is provided if<br />
necessary at a cost to the employee. Applications<br />
may be submitted any time throughout the year<br />
and are reviewed as positions become available.<br />
Federal Work Study students are encouraged to<br />
apply.<br />
Graduate Assistantships<br />
Graduate assistantships are offered through the<br />
Department of <strong>Recreation</strong> and Wellness with the<br />
mission to best serve the needs of the department,<br />
students, and clients. Graduate Assistants are<br />
collectively provided with opportunities including<br />
retreats, mentoring, and the ability to enhance<br />
interpersonal skills as well as gain practical<br />
management and leadership experiences.<br />
Applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree,<br />
preferably in physical education, sport<br />
management, recreation, or a related field, have<br />
knowledge of basic recreational management<br />
skills and apply to the BGSU Graduate College.<br />

Graduate Assistantship Positions are currently<br />

Assignment is contingent upon admission to<br />
the BGSU Graduate College. Two-year program<br />
stipend includes approximately $8,786 for nine<br />
months with full tuition waiver per academic year<br />
and general fee coverage of $1,266.<br />
Practicums/Internships<br />
A wide variety of practicum jobs and internships<br />
are offered in all program areas of <strong>Recreation</strong><br />
and Wellness. In order to best suit the objectives<br />
of <strong>Recreation</strong> and Wellness and the educational<br />
needs of students in a wide array of majors and<br />
programs, position descriptions are continuously<br />
reviewed and developed. <strong>Student</strong>s with a special<br />
project in mind or a specific skill are encouraged<br />
to contact a member of the <strong>Recreation</strong> and<br />
Wellness staff.<br />
Rec Bucks Incentive Program<br />
The <strong>Recreation</strong> and Wellness <strong>Student</strong> Employee<br />
Incentive Program is designed to recognize<br />
student employees who go above and beyond their<br />
job description to help improve the Department<br />
of <strong>Recreation</strong> and Wellness. Rec Bucks can be<br />
redeemed for various prizes and are awarded for<br />
exemplary behaviors, such as:<br />
