Event and Program Advertising
Each year, Recreation and Wellness hosts many
special events and programs for the campus
and surrounding communities. The positive

Student Development and Leadership
Series
The SDL program provides volutary training for
RecWell employees through interesting career,
leadership and teambuilding workshops.

Banquet
The RecWell student banquet is a lighthearted
dinner and awards ceremony held annually in
the spring. The banquet recognizes students for
excellence in service and a job well done.

Wellness Connection Peer Education
The peer education program promotes all aspects
of wellness by raising awareness and knowledge
about healthy living through outreah and role
modeling. The primary goal is to develop fun,
interactive and educational programs that reach
the entire BGSU community.
Newsletter and Stall Talk Publication
Stall Talk is a bi-weekly publication made by
the Wellness Connection to be posted in the
bathroom stalls of campus residence halls and
various campus buildings. It includes wellness
information, student-related activities and
upcoming events.
Summer, Spring Break and School’s Out
Kids Camp
All kids camps are recreation-based programs
designed for children kindergarten through
sixth grade emphasizing physical development
and exercise while promoting a healthy lifestyle.
The Summer Camp is an 8-week program in
which kids can participate in as many weeks as
they prefer. The Spring Break Camp takes place
during the Bowling Green Local Schools spring
break week and School’s Out Camps are held on
conference days and national holidays.
Climbing Competition
The BGSU Climbing Competition gives climbers
of all skill levels an opportunity to push
themselves physically and mentally against
others in a friendly contest.
Late Night at the Rec, Halloween Bash,
Pajama Party and BiG Playground
These late night Rec Center events are hosted by
the Wellness Connection and attract thousands
of students each year. Inflatable games, free
food and health and wellness demonstrations
highlight the nights.

High School Hockey Tournament
This 4-team round robin tournament is held over
two weekends in the late fall each year.
Recreation and Wellness Sports Golf
Outing
Proceeds and donations from the annual outing
benefit the Recreation and Wellness Foundation
that funds departmental special initiatives
including student employee recognition and
professional development.
Health and Safety Program
Health and Safety courses are offered to
students, faculty/staff and community members
and are instructed by American Red Cross
certified instructors.
Group Exercise
Eighteen different group exercise classes are
held at the Student Recreation Center. With
30+ classes held weekly, hundreds of students
find time to partake in sessions such as yoga,
kickboxing, spinning and abs.
Intramural Sports/Championships
The Intramural program offers participation in
men’s, women’s, co-rec, independent and Greek
leagues. 3,000 BGSU students play in 15--20
different intramural sports each semester.
Outdoor Program Trips
Adventure trips include hiking, backpacking,
winter camping, snowshoeing, mountain biking,
white water rafting, canoeing, skiing and
snowboarding. Generally, these trips take place
in a wide variety wilderness settings around the
Eastern and Central United States.
Senior Hockey League
The BGSU Ice Arena Slo-Puck Hockey League is
developed for novice through advanced players.
300 players take part in this recreational hockey
league each spring and summer.
Learn-To-Swim/Skate/Climb
RecWell offers instructional classes for
swimming, ice skating and the rock wall for all
skill levels and ages. 400 families participate in
Learn-To classes each year.
