Glossary
Textiles
Cordura® Stretch Extra Durable nylon fabric with good
stretch properties that provide a good fit. The fabric is
windproof, waterproof and breathable.
HESTRA Softshell 4-way stretch Durable and supple
stretch fabric made of polyamide/spandex. Wind and
water resistant with good ventilation properties.
Gore Windstopper® Softshell Windproof and waterresistant
stretch fabric with excellent breathability
characteristics.
Micron Wind and waterproof, soft polyester fabric with
good breathability characteristics.
Neoprene®Textile coated synthetic rubber that is weather
resistant and insulates well, even when wet.
Proton Durable nylon fabric that is windproof, waterproof
and has good breathability characteristics.
Canvas Sturdy, close-weave, twin-shaft fabric made from
twined polyester/cotton yarn.
Triton A durable nylon fabric that is wind and waterproof
and has excellent breathability properties.
Ventile®Tight, plain-woven 100 percent cotton. This dense
textile is wind and water resistant without impregnation, a
membrane or fluorocarbons.
Liners
Bemberg Soft and warm polyester lining.
Fleece Airy and napped material made of polyamide or
polyester. Retains heat well, carries away moisture and
dries quickly.
Felted wool/wool terry cloth/angora wool keeps hands
warm even when the material becomes wet. Felting means
that the wool has been washed with soapy water to be
extra warm, dense and durable.
Polartec Power Dry/Power Stretch Thin, moisture
wicking liner made from polyester with excellent
ventilation properties.
Silk 100 percent natural silk.
Wool terry cloth A knitted material with curly fibers
and terry loops that can trap large amounts of air
– up to 80 percent.
Membrane
CZone TM A glove with four different layers – outer material,
waterproof and breathable membrane, insulation and
lining, which complement each other and creates a warm
and pleasant comfort zone for your hands.
Gore-Tex® A thin PTFE membrane that lets out excess
body heat and moisture, while it is wind and waterproof.
Gore-Tex® XCR Gore-Tex membrane with further
improved breathability (eXtended Comfort Range).
Designs
Eagle Grip®A design where we shape or pre-curve
the gloves so that they follow the natural curve of your
hands, giving a closer, more comfortable grip.
Leather welt An extra piece of leather that protects
and strengthens the seam around the glove’s thumb.
The design comes from our very first work gloves.
External seams Sewing technology that we use for
several models. It provides excellent comfort for
the fingers.
Piqué seam Stitching performed when the material is
wrapped around, providing an extra supple fit.
Snow lock Keeps snow on the outside and warmth on
the inside.
Vertical Cut® A special design used in some of our
Alpine Racing gloves for the best possible fit.
Wolf Paw® A patented fingertip reinforcement design that
eliminates seams from surfaces that are exposed to the
most wear and tear.
Insulation
Fiberfill An insulating material made from polyester fiber.
Primaloft® Soft, down-like polyester that is warm,
breathable and water resistant.
Thermolite® Polyester-based thin and supple insulation.
Retains its insulating properties even when wet.
Other
Chamude® A durable micro fiber material.
PU Digital/PU Power Grip Soft but durable textured
material made of polyurethane.
Nor Grip A pattern coating printed on the palm for a
better grip.
3M Scotchlite® A reflective material from 3M.
Coating A coating on the fabric that gives the material
various properties depending on which coating you use.
