Carle & Montanari, integrated systems for the chocolate industry
The company presents its latest technological innovations at Ipack Ima
The Ipack Ima trade fair, which was first held in 1961, provides a major
opportunity for technology and materials producers to meet representatives
from the industries that use process and packaging technologies. In 2009 the
fair will take place from 24 to 28 March at the Milan-Rho exhibition centre, and
– as usual – it will be attended by the most reputable and enterprising firms
offering materials, machines and solutions for the food and non-food
industries. This major industry gathering, which aims to foster solid business
partnerships between suppliers and users of technologies, is a perfect stage for
the excellence of Italian-made products and the ideal showcase for a company
such as Carle & Montanari. As part of the Sacmi group, and with a history
dating back over a hundred years, the company has become increasingly
specialised in providing turnkey installations and solutions for the chocolate
industry, thanks to the complementary skills of Carle & Montanari and Carle &
Montanari Packaging. The company will be exhibiting at a 140 m2 stand (hall
5, C41-B42) at Ipack Ima, where the spotlight will be on its new five-roll HFI
518 refiner, a state-of-the-art machine for refining chocolate and similar
masses. In addition to the precision and reliability for which the company is
well-known, this new model boasts technical innovations in terms of increased
capacity, accessibility and ease of cleaning, with greatly reduced maintenance
times, thanks to the new layout of the refining cylinders and kinematic chain.
Another attractive feature is the new software that stops the machine from
running when empty.
For Carle & Montanari, the Ipack Ima fair will be an opportunity to display its
brand new vertical cooler for the moulding lines of the CAVEMIL series. Highly
flexible and modular in design, the new cooler can accommodate any type of
mould, from individual ones for flat-bottomed products (both the narrowest
version for pralines and the widest for use with two rows of chocolate bars) to
twin machines for chocolate eggs, balls and shapes. This flexibility means that
customers can optimise their investment by maximising use of moulding lines,
thereby avoiding the costly peaks and troughs in activity associated with
seasonal products. Lastly, the cooler’s design represents a real breakthrough,
and is probably the first example of industrial design in the history of the
chocolate industry.
Carle & Montanari joined the Sacmi group in 2003. It has completed
installations all over the world and offers a wide range of machines for
applications including cocoa processing, chocolate processing and production,
automatic moulding and the wrapping of chocolate, sweets and jellies (both
inner and outer wrapping).
Each stage of the chocolate production process can be managed by machines
designed by Carle & Montanari to achieve the optimum combination of
reliability, quality and productivity. In particular, the company offers
automated mixers for processing raw materials (sugar, cocoa liquor, butter,
milk, etc.); two-roll machines for pre-refining chocolate and similar masses;
electronically controlled five-roll refiners, which guarantee a high degree of
homogeneity and consistent results; chocolate conches capable of managing
up to 10 tonnes/batch and vertical continuous tempering machines with a
capacity of 600 to 6,000 kg/h.
The company also offers a wide range of automatic moulding equipment, with
the CAVEMIL and MULTICAVEMIL series capable of managing a variety of
formats using the latest technology. Among its latest innovations is the new
CAVEMIL CREM “H”, a newly engineered moulding line that is extremely
adaptable to the needs of the customer thanks to a low initial investment and
expansion options made possible via additional modules. The new CAVEMIL
CREM “H” can be integrated with the entire range of technical solutions offered
by Carle & Montanari from coolers to depositors, dosing units for different
ingredients and the automation and control of every step of the process.
Turning lastly to Carle & Montanari’s wrapping machines and systems for
chocolate, sweets and jellies: these are also modular in design, and can
therefore be integrated with a broad range of accessories, while individual
wrapping machines are able to manage up to 1,000 pieces per minute in
various formats. Even asymmetrical shapes such as hearts and shells pose no
problems thanks to the pick & place robots that optimise management of
wrapper position and orientation. On show at Ipack Ima will be the Vpack2CB4
model with CMBSEC aligners, part of the innovative series of versatile Vpack2
wrapping machines, bringing additional functionality to the wide range of
wrapping machines made by the company. Extremely flexible and able to
manage very different wrapping styles – with very quick format changes – the
configuration of Carle & Montanari’s Vpack2 series wrapping machines can be
tailored to customer requirements. These configurations can be added to at
any time, as the machines can be fitted with additional units for heat sealing,
hot glue or label application, laser or inkjet markers or automatic reel splicers.
Altogether, the company will be a strong presence at the Milan fair, displaying
the innovative solutions most recently added to its product range, which serve
to underline the company’s industrial policy and its increasing focus on turnkey
solutions as well as state-of-the-art machinery covering every stage of the
production process from raw materials processing to wrapping. Carle &
Montanari and Carle & Montanari Packaging can claim to be the only providers
of complete solutions as sole supplier in their industry, managing the entire
process from start to finish and guaranteeing a high quality, competitivelypriced
service.
