COURSE DESCRIPTION:<br />
Designed to introduce touch keyboarding of letter, number, and symbol keys on the computer. Introduces<br />
basic computer operation; no previous computer or typewriting experience required. A combination of<br />
CIM 121A, 121B, and 121C may be taken four times.<br />
COURSE OBJECTIVES:<br />
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:<br />
1. Demonstrate keyboarding skill on the alpha, numeric and symbol keys using the touch method of<br />
operation with proper techniques.<br />
2. Keyboard alpha characters at a minimum speed of 15 words per minute.<br />
3. Identify and operate the basic components of a computer.<br />
4. Demonstrate proper techniques to avoid repetitive stress injuries.<br />

ASSIGNMENTS:<br />
Students will complete Lessons 1-20 of the textbook keyboarding drills. The lessons include alphabetic<br />
and alpha numeric finger dexterity drills, paced practice, and timed writings.<br />

WITHDRAWAL: It is the student’s responsibility to withdraw from the class by the appropriate<br />
dates.<br />
