passion, fire and love. This is the story of three<br />
young musicians from Greece, Turkey, and Israel,<br />
who embark on an exciting musical journey,<br />
to tell the story of Greece’s best-known and<br />
best-loved rebetiko singer for the first time on<br />
film. Its a journey that will take them from Istanbul<br />
to Thessaloniki and to Athens, following<br />
the musical trail she left behind. Most of<br />
all, its a journey into a world that has largely<br />
vanished, but whose sounds continue to echo<br />
throughout the Mediterranean Basin.<br />
Roy Sher<br />
1977’de İsrail’in Hayfa kentinde dünyaya<br />
gelen Sher, Tel Aviv Üniversitesi Sinema ve<br />
Televizyon Bölümü’nde eğitim aldı ve burada<br />
birçok kısa film ve belgesel yönetti. Kısa filmi<br />
Mazal 40’ın üzerinde uluslararası film festivaline<br />
katıldı ve beş ayrı en iyi kısa film ödülü<br />
aldı. Roy Sher İsrail Yönetmenler Birliği’nin<br />
ve İsrail Belgesel Yönetmenleri Forumu’nun<br />
üyesidir. Sarı Kanaryam, yönetmenin ilk uzun<br />
metrajlı filmidir.<br />
Roy Sher was born in 1977 in the city of Haifa,<br />
Israel, Roy studied at the Tel Aviv University<br />
film and TV department, in which he had directed<br />
a number of short Fiction and Documentary<br />
films. His fiction film ‘MAZAL’, won<br />
5 international award for best short film and<br />
has participated in over 40 international film<br />
festivals. Roy Sher is a member of the Israeli<br />
Director’s union and the Israeli Documentary<br />
Filmmakers’ Forum, the film ‘My Sweet Canary’<br />
is his debut Feature film.
