K 010 ENGINEERING REGULATIONS
PURPOSE
The a.c. and d.c. charging units charge she Clansman 24V 3AH nickel cadmium battery associated with the
UK/PRC-320, UK/PRC-351 and UK/PRC-352. The hand generator with a 1AH nickel cadmium battery
powers the UK/PRC-320 and UK/PRC-351 when there are no charging facilities available for the 3AH
batteries.
DESCRIPTION
Charger battery, a.c.
Provides individual outputs to charge up to sixteen Clansman batteries from a.c. mains or on equivalent
generator supply. Each output has a temperature sensing circuit, voltage and current regulation, and
lamps to indicate the correct charging and the fully charged conditions. Sixteen battery charging leads.
a mains lead and spare fuses are stowed in the lid of the carrying case. The equipment is NOT hermetically
sealed.
Charger battery, d.c. 28V
A hermetically sealed d.c. to d.c. converter with voltage and current regulation designed to float charge
a single Clansman battery from a 28V d.c. FFR vehicle supply. The input circuit is not earthed enabling
the equipment to be used with positive or negative earthed returns. The equipment may also be used for
charging the battery in isolation from the radio. Simple lamp indication operated by a temperature sensing
circuit shows correct charging and fully charged conditions.
Charger battery, d.c. 14V
As for the d.c. 28V model but designed for use with the 12V d.c. supply of a GS vehicle.
Generator electrical,
hand operated
A hermetically sealed 24V d.c. generator used with a clipped on, float charged, 24V 1AH nickel cadmium
battery to replace the 24V 3AH battery. Charge is maintained by hand cranking the generator, correct
charging speed is indicated by the front panel light being extinguished. Under normal conditions of use
the generator output is insufficient to maintain full charge in a 3AH radio battery. In an emergency the
generator may be used without a battery to operate the RECEIVER ONLY.
