IR and white light illuminators: Technology<br />
IR illuminators<br />
The SANTEC IR LEDs operate on a wavelength of 850 nm and provi<strong>de</strong>, together with SANTEC day/night CCTV cameras, the i<strong>de</strong>al solution for perfect<br />
picture quality even at night. Please bear in mind that light-absorbing surroundings may reduce the range of the IR LEDs. Moreover, reflecting surfaces<br />
may lead to reflections in the <strong>vi<strong>de</strong>o</strong> picture. Illuminators IR-12DN, IR-13DN, IR-35DN and IR-70DN are also available on request as DNX versions with<br />
950 nm wavelength.<br />
White light illuminators<br />
Using SANTEC LED white light illuminators, an efficient and reliable illumination of the<br />
surroundings can be achieved. Compared to a 90 watt halogen lamp which generates<br />
a light of approx. 1,800 lumen, a white light illuminator with 120 watt power consumption<br />
generates a light of approx. 8,500 lumen. This means a factor of 4.7x, as much as<br />
a 90 watt halogen illuminator. Thanks to their high durability of at least 50,000 hours,<br />
SANTEC white light illuminators are a real alternative to common halogen illuminators<br />
which are maintenance-<strong>de</strong>manding and only have a mean of 1,000 operating hours –<br />
hence they are not i<strong>de</strong>al for applications in <strong>vi<strong>de</strong>o</strong> surveillance systems. Furthermore, in<br />
or<strong>de</strong>r to achieve a comparable light result using a halogen illuminator, 500 watt would<br />
be required.<br />

Notes<br />
1. The range of the built-in IR-LEDs strongly <strong>de</strong>pend on the location and the surroundings. Strongly absorbent surfaces,<br />
e.g. dark, rough structures (floor, lawn or asphalt) may lead to a consi<strong>de</strong>rable reduction of the maximum range.<br />
